I was there. That was after a hurricane sent the team scattering and we had virtually no practice time leading up to that game.

They started strong. Second half was a different story.
We abused their oline but they had a number of drops and wide open WRs all game. Much more 1H than 2H, but still...they had dudes open.

This argument makes more sense for a school like Vandy in the SEC.

Toledo maybe can only recruit at a MAC level, but it plays in the MAC. It doesn’t to do more with less. It usually finishes with the top recruiting class in the conference.
I'd say talent differential matters, and I'd argue that even though Toledo consistently finishes with the #1 class, the degree of difference in talent level between Toledo at #1 and some MAC team at #6 in the recruiting rankings is not that different. There'll be a bigger talent differential here.

I just looked at 2021 using 247 numbers:

Toledo finished with the #1 ranked recruiting class. 82.5 player average. 163.18 total points.
Ball State finished with the #6 ranked recruiting class. 81.00 player average 140.84 total points.

Miami finished #2 in the ACC. 90.51 player average. 266.08 total points.
Virginia finished #6 in the ACC. 86.03 player average. 206.33 total points.

Even though he was hauling in the "best" recruiting classes at Toledo, they were pretety indistinguishable from the median recruiting class in the conference. The fall off is much bigger in the ACC. We outrecruit the **** out of the median recruiting class in the conference. We have a much more talented roster than our coastal competitors whereas Candle had a slightly more talented roster than most of his MAC competitors.

Right, but the point is he isn’t doing less with more, as was kind of being insinuated. He has all the talent he needs relative to his schedule.

I get you. He had a slightly more talented roster than most of his MAC competitors. Here he'll have much more talent than most of his competitors. So I'd expect him to do better. At least that's how my orange and green glasses wanna see it.

So this was the reason why I brought back up the topic on a HC from another program being the OC in the big names thread on p406…

Slid another poster the name that night after hearing Candle was a primary target, said poster can vouch if they choose. Spoke with Jaycane about it as well after he mentioned hearing about a G5 HC candidate a few days later. I couldn’t believe it honestly. But I was only told exactly that he was just a top target, not that anything was “done” so I wasn’t going to create a guessing and speculation frenzy since at that point his name was nowhere to be found anywhere and I **** sure wasn’t dropping a name publicly. Candle is an X and O wiz that has a modern style, scores points (27th in scoring O, Miami was 23rd) but traditionally runs the pill very well too (30th rushing O) so this makes sense for Mario.

When scoop and plugged in sources put out stuff like this and start using terms like targeting and zeroing in etc, most of the time that means all but done. It’s risky though cause the man is still employed but with this being “OUT” now, I can’t see it dragging on very long. Either he will sh*t or get off the pot. Hopefully we get it done, would be home run IMO.
Yeah, I believe the ball is in Candle court which may ultimately be in Toledo court.

That last paragraph was strategically placed.

Miami has the ability to pay him 1.5 to possibly 2 million( don’t see it going that high) and further his brand.

El, no disrespect, but that's not entirely true. The advantage that pre-snap motion & shifts provide modern offenses is leverage & in creating run fits by isolating certain defenders. It's evolved past simple man or zone checks, & window dressing.

I use motion in gaming to see if it's man or zone and if it's man hopefully have single coverage moving the defense to one side.

Gentlemen, read between the lines of Feld's tweet...sure it could be workout-related.

OR..."light the fuse" = Candle ;)

SIAP btw, I might have missed if someone else caught that.
