If true, count me as disappointed. I wanted, and expected, a guy with a track record of excellent offenses and QB development AT THE TOP LEVEL. This is, to me, the equivalent of hiring Memphis Mike Norvel. In fact he was a more successful low level coach than Candle who has been meh as a HC/OC. I hope this is a play to get Briles, Dorsey or someone else to make up their minds.

Toledo fans seem to be happy Miami might be taking him away. They don’t seem to care for him

This is the equivalent of hiring Rhett Lashlee, which worked out great for us

It's interesting to note Mario has said numerous times he wants to run Miami like Alabama, and he has huge admiration for Saban and his time he spent there.

Well, Saban has hired:

Mike Locksley
Lane Kiffin
Steve Sarkisian
Bill O'Brien

as his last 4 offensive coordinators. Every one of them was a head coach before becoming an OC for Saban. Candle has a similar background, as did Mario's last OC hire he made (Joe Moorehead at Oregon).

****, me too man. I’m not going to even front like I ever heard of dude before today. Plus idk man..
I never heard of him either but reading this thread I've gathered - runs uptempo spread that mixes run/pass well, Rhule considers him being elite offensive mind, HC experience, recruits SF quite a bit.

What more do you want for OC aside from a "name"? How can anyone say Briles or Dorsey is better than this guy?

And considering Mario has been on the hunt for a month, i trust his research and process, his record of hiring coaches is proven

Someone help me understand why this is what most people call a "homerun" hire?
Scoring offense rankings
2021: 27th (HC)
2020: 20th (HC)
2019: 82nd (HC)
2018: 12th (HC)
2017:16th (HC)
2016: 19th (HC)
2015: 25th (OC/QB)
2014: 21st (OC/QB)
2013: 33rd (OC/WR)
2012: 45th (OC/WR)

Apparently calls plays as HC. Of course this stat doesn't tell the whole story (efficiency, yard per play, etc) but consistent record of putting out productive offenses.
