He certainly overthinked when he hired Deruyter. I wasn't impressed with Moorhead either. Oregon was winning because they had more talent than most of the teams they played and yet they still managed to lose to lesser opponents.
According to that video of him explaining his hiring process, he does 5 hour interviews and makes candidates do live teaching presentations lmao

What a bizarre way of doing interviews. I kinda get it for first time coordinators because they have no track record to evaluate, but for candidates who have already been coordinators before, it really makes no sense.

Someone can crush a 5 hour interview and be a **** coordinator. People raved about Doritos intelligence and understanding of the game, yet he fielded dog**** defenses. For coordinators with a track record, look at the objective evidence (offensive/defensive efficiency, success rate, etc.) and also the film. Those are much better indicators of whether someone is a good coordinator then whether they do good on an interview teaching presentation lol

You also have to factor in schools like Bama, Michigan, etc will also be looking for OC jobs pretty soon.

IDK but I was certainly hoping for Belk. Getting coaches from the NFL is tricky if they don't have college experience because recruiting is so urgent.
If you have heavy recruiters amongst your assistants and support staff maybe makes getting a competent coordinator that is not known for recruiting less of a priority.

Shame you didn't get the job .. then you could do it your way.

Where were you buddy? The wife is from there and I lived there on and off for a bit? If you say Punta Caña or Boca Chica, believe it or not I’ve never been - too many tourists. Lol

I went down for a wedding in Punta Cana at one of the resorts and end up staying a couple days extra. Got back right as the snowstorm was finishing up on the East Coast. Always fun going from mid 80s to low 30s and snow on the ground.

One of my kids is still in your area and said the snow was heavy yesterday.

The staff has to be complete by the end of this week I’d think. Give you 2 weeks to make that final push on the class and getting ready for spring
At this point I’m not so sure. I thought it was him having trouble locking guys down but it seems to be his timeframe. Where’s that poster who told me this? Looks like you were spot on with the Timeframes Mario took at Oregon as being indicative of the situation here.
