Nah, he killed a player. Would be a bad look for Miami to hire him. He also created a toxic culture at Maryland.
A kid died of a heatstroke from running gassers - don't make it sound like he shot a kid or something

We're not hiring his strength coach who was running workouts when it happened- i'm pretty sure all of the complaints about culture was Rick Court cussing at kids and calling them names.

For the, “Dorsey will be an NFL OC soon anyway!” people. Ok, can we let him do that and lets see how that goes? Or is simply being named an NFL OC good enough and automatically meaning you are worthy of being an OC anywhere and you can’t fail? Because if so, there are plenty of failed NFL OCs who need a job that have years of NFL coordinator experience. As someone who has worked for an NFL organization in the front office, I’ve seen coordinators keep their jobs and literally be the downfall for teams. Brian Schottenheimer was an NFL and college OC, coaches son, all of that. Should we go get him? I mean, he was an NFL OC so if that’s all it takes then why not?

So this isn’t me hoping Dorsey fails, or even indicating he will or anything like that. I’m asking a serious question because I’ve seen several people say that he will soon be an OC. Although that is purely an assumption because no one knows what will happen, so what? I understand that he is a genius and was a film junkie and all of that, but so were a lot of guys. That doesn’t 100% automatically mean success as a play caller guys. And if the answer truly is, “I just have faith that the guy can get it done”...then just say that. But don’t give me this “he will soon be an NFL OC!” like it’s just a straight up justifiable reason for us to all get on board with giving him the keys to him as a 1st time play caller, because it’s not ...

The problem with that approach is, if he becomes an NFL OC and has success, our window of opportunity to sign him is gone... any OC we hire is going to come with some risk.. the risk with Dorsey is he's never called plays before and never coached/recruited college. Seems like everybody is ok with Schuman who has waaaay less experience than Dorsey but has been in the college game much longer...
i'm not 100% on board with Dorsey as OC here either but expecting to lure away an OC from an NFL team is extremely unlikely.. if we want an NFL guy as an OC, it'll be somebody who's been fired (like Joe Brady) or an up and comer like Dorsey, who we at least know is a great QB coach...

1.) Thank you for responding, lol.

2.) I don’t disagree with a lot of that, but just because he may get that NFL OC job and blow up and thus decreasing our chances to get him later, that still isn’t a good enough reason for me for us to take that risk NOW. We shouldn’t cave in just because of that. My biggest thing is, there are still a ton of question marks with him and if we have all of this money and the opportunity to get a sure thing or close to it, then he needs to be way down the list.

3.) I hear you on Schumann, and hence why I said if the reason is simply just, “I have faith in him” then just say that. Because I believe in Schumann, I also have zero question marks about Schumann on the trail and know that he genuinely LOVES to do it and is ELITE at it. That is another question mark for Dorsey although yes, the coordinators main job is to coordinate, let the assistants handle the load on the trail.

4. Definitely not expecting to lure away an NFL OC, but a good proven college OC with a record of sustainable success should definitely be the expectation.
