Dorsey is not happening. the man is on track to be a head coach in the NFL. do not see why he would jump off that train now.

btw, no orange and green glasses here but the OC job here is an amazing opportunity. I would be shocked if Mario doesn't get someone good.
No doubt, TVD and/or Jake Garcia should make our next OC a lot of money down the road.

I would rather have Briles and a bunch of other guys over Ponce. Just to be clear. We have the money for a name brand.

Just think people are going overboard the other way and calling Ponce a scrub because he is a Miami guy. He runs a good offense that is very hard to defend.

Behind Rhett and Whip? Man it was a graveyard of OCs.

Yet, lots of fellow Cane fans moped and complained about Rhett and Whipple. Heck, also remembered similar stuff on Jeff Stoutland, who has had a very good career after his UM stint. Lots of knowledgeable Cane fans, but also a good number of them are more emotional than teenage girls, too worried about "optics" and what their fellow gaturd and nole friends and family think of their program.

Why would you use analytics to inform your opinion when Mario makes 8 million a year?
Analytics are overrated, haven't you heard? It's not like various NFL teams are incorporating them into 2 pt conversions or going for it on 4th down...not like the Tampa Bay Rays basically built their entire underfunded franchise based off analytics (if anyone wants to argue this, it's literally my occupation so I've got all day).

Because the point of offense is to score points.

Scoring offense can sometimes get skewed when a team runs a lot of plays. App State doesn't. Their points per play is the exact same as their scoring offense (22nd).

Again, I want someone with a longer track record. We have the budget for it. But the fact is that this offense scored a bunch of points this year at the P5 and G5 level.

Scoring offense can get skewed by a **** ton of stuff.

That’s why analytic models attempt to account for those things.

Is that your issue with them? They attempt to account for the things that can skew traditional stats?

People have a good argument as to why Ponce sucks.

The metrics that people choose to put faith in, show he sucks.

You can not like those metrics. But preferring them and using them is not “overboard.”
