Let's assume Schuman stays at Georgia as DC.

What are the rumored backup options? Belk (despite his recent extension)? Lake (despite his "issues" with Mario)? Partridge or Hurt (despite neither being a DC before)?

So who does Kirby value more? Muschamp or Schumann?

My guess is Schumann although kirby and champ are good buddies. Champ will probably be interim DC whereas Schumann will probably be the DC next year. Champ is possibly looking for more HC gigs but not sure

So who does Kirby value more? Muschamp or Schumann?
They are not similarly situated.

Schuman - young, talented coach looking for his first solo gig as DC at a P5 program.
Muschamp - experienced DC currenlty enjoying life with family and being paid a handsome severance.

Kirby can easily finesse both. Promote Schuman and pay Muschamp a little more to stay as an analyst for another year.

From Kirby:
“We are so happy for Dan and his family. He and Sauphia have been an important part of our Bulldog family for the last four years, and we thank them for all they did for Georgia Football and the Athens community. Opportunities like this are a testament to a successful program. While he will coach with us for the upcoming College Football Playoff, we will move forward with Glenn Schumann and Will Muschamp as co-defensive coordinators. Dan and I are both looking forward to preparing for the CFP.”

Go get Schumann NOW. Make him an offer he can't refuse. Use Kirby making Muschamp a co-DC thing as a disrespectful sign.

Happy with either Schumann or Muschamp... hopefully we finalize it soon

Interesting move, but seems unlikely that Muschamp would stay permanently for a Co-DC with Schumann. He could risk losing him to a spot like TAMU.

Muschamp isn't going anywhere. He wants to be apart of his son's college experience. His son is a PWO QB for UGA.
Fine by me. Go tell Schumann "so Muschamp is at UGA for one year as an analyst, and he gets Co-DC with you? Seems disrespectful if you ask me, why wait and see what happens there, when you can be full time DC here in Coral Gables"

Throw that man a bag and a half.

I interpret the bolded part as follows:
- Lanning stays on staff as co-DC thru the playoffs and then departs for Oregon
- Next year Muschamp joins the staff full-time as co-dc with Schumann.

Schumann does not become THE DC and it is unlikely he will call plays with Muschamp around.

Mario: Go get Schumann...now!!!
