Hard to argue this isn’t getting ridiculous…
Pardon my ignorance, but has there ever been a situation in college football where a head coach hires all the position coaches and then hires the coordinators? The first non-Oregon hire was leaked before an official announcement from UM. So I don't believe it. When it was actually done it would get out.
All this is pure speculation just like the AD and HC hires. So, it is not apples to oranges. It is perspective and the fact that just like the AD and HC searches a lot of the actual mechanics is being held very close to the vest. Stories about how Mario was going to finalize the staff this week is speculation from a bunch of hack reporters and want to be insiders. Too much time on their hands from too many busy bodies. Not concerned from my vantage point.Apples to Oranges. The HC and AD search followed a timeline that made sense. Sure some people got antsy but that will always happen especially at a program with a history of fumbling major hires. As it pertains to the Coordinator hires, we had numerous reasons why they weren't hired which all made sense but we have eclipsed almost all of those time horizons. First it was the hires might be still be playing in bowl games. Nevermind that other schools made their hits regardless of that, but we heard Mario was a man of respect, which made sense at the time. Then it was that the NFL season was over yet. At the same time we got stories after the new year that Mario was gonna finalize the staff that week. That all came and went. Then it was that the MNC chip wasn't played yet. Then the story came out that Mario wanted a staff finalized by the time the dead period ended, and that is today. The only thing we have left is that the NFL playoffs are still going on. Now that very well maybe where our coordinators are at but at this point we keep moving back the line and we have hit a wall.
I still believe Mario will get us to a respectable level and thus far he has done very well putting together the position/assistant coaches, but just blindly saying everything is juts fine goes against all the info out there, unless you believe our 1st choices are still coaching in the NFL playoffs. It appears at this point that our 1st choices very well may have told us thanks but no thanks. Maybe this will be revisited and you end up being right but this is my thought process here.
I'm sure the info is second hand. But I wonder if it occurred to Barry that it's the kind of think a competitor would say to a recruit..Barry would have never held that out of the news from sat until today
He’s capping because if he knew there’s way he’d ever be able to keep that to himselfOh the guy who always knows but never reveals so that he’s never wrong.
Exactly. Or it's a recruit that is just effing with Barry and/or has no intention of coming here and is just badmouthing/stirring ****.What Barry said in his bullsh*t tweet was, “He was told by UM..”
WHO?!?!? Because nobody at “UM” even knows who TF Mario is hiring, so who TF told a “Top CB recruit” that TRob is not likely coming back? Even if TRob does leave, there’s only like two people who would know that & neither one of those people would tell that to a top recruit while simultaneously recruiting them lol
That’s like telling a girl you’re trying to hookup with, “Hey I’m married right now, but if you let me hit I’ll get a divorce..”
Too rich of news for anyone who wants to act like they know thingsHe’s capping because if he knew there’s way he’d ever be able to keep that to himself
Coach Kul got hired without the approval of Diaz. Diaz had stints at Texas and Miss. State. And yet Richt saw what he thought was an elite D-Line coach and made the hire. Kevin Smith is a home run RB coach hire. So is Mirabal as the OL coach. So a HC will go out and hire guys that they feel any OC/DC is gonna be more than ok with. The OC/DC will get to bring along analysts or GAs that they like as "their guys"Pardon my ignorance, but has there ever been a situation in college football where a head coach hires all the position coaches and then hires the coordinators?
Isn’t the norm to hire a coordinator and then hire the position coaches?
Isn’t that why we all speculated Mark Richt wouldn’t hire a coordinator because he knew that his son would be out?
Don’t fan bases freak out all the time when a coordinator leaves because they usually change a bunch of coaches?
So unless the oc and dc are some g5 guys who just want the pay raise and are gonna be yes men, I highly doubt that an experienced or highly sought after coordinator is going to just except the position coaches that he had no say so in hiring.
No it’s not. There’s lots of non-monetary reasons, which I’ve already pointed out. But I bet you we’re not out outbidding them as some have suggested.
Correct.Well, one potential non-monetary reason is that he will be working for a DC for whom he has alot of history working with him and for a program that is at a level UM hopes to attain someday. So there is your reason regarding who is bidding whatever amount.
Exactly. They’d be better served giving that scoop to a 247 or Rivals guy as opposed to Barry Jackson.Exactly. Or it's a recruit that is just effing with Barry and/or has no intention of coming here and is just badmouthing/stirring ****.
Barry does have sauces at and around the school but I find it hard to believe that any actual recruits give a **** about feeding him any info just because he's at the Herald. Kids today give more clout to randos on Twitter and IG or guys closer to themselves in age running websites than legacy type media and newspapers in general.
NoSo the coordinator hires have been made for a while now?
