I forgot who but on a recent pod someone said that Mario is extremely thorough in hiring coaches. He interviewed like 11 guys for Oregon OC before landing Moorehead.
That was Feldman in his interview with Navarro. Just listened this afternoon myself.

There may be some guys Mario interviewed while at Oregon who he is targeting here.

Really exciting times to be a Cane!

My only thing is, would Dorsey get the job if he didn’t play here? What you’re saying is valid, don’t get me wrong. But we have GOT to get out of this mode of thinking where the only guys who can be successful at Miami are “Miami guys”.

Would Cristobal have been hired were he not a Miami guy? Yes, he had a very prevalent P5 job and was doing very well. He was on USC’s radar, etc. But is Dorsey a candidate for the gators OC job? Clemson? I don’t think so. Not saying he can’t be successful but we need to start hiring the absolute best candidates, regardless of where they went to school or coached previously.
No one questions his coaching abilities in the NFL. Cam and Josh Wells have both given Ken a lot of credit for coaching them up. He is a highly thought of young coach, and will soon have OC opportunities in the NFL.

But take the same NFL resume, same age, but replace Miami with Cal or Stanford as his alma mater - would he consider an offer from Mario?

My point, if not well explained, is the connection works both ways.

The question is would Ken Dorsey be a viable candidate for OC?

Did you watch the Bama vs Arky game or did you just look at the score? That game was over in the 4th and Bama slept walked knowing Arky couldnt beat them. I know this because Bama lost the spread late fooling around and it ****ed me off.
There are ALWAYS gonna be some duds on any coaches resume. You can't look at one game, you have to look at the whole picture. The whole body of work. His whole body of work tells me, that he's improved every offense that he's put his hands on. That's fact. So a quick question for you.... Who do you want as an OC? Because I guarantee that you can probably find some horrible games that he coached, as well. Much like Briles vs. UGA. There are NO perfect coaches, man. Everyone has warts.

I said he should be our distant 3rd option. And I said he had a gimmicky offense which he does. The way yall are acting you would have thought I said bring back Dan Enos before considering Briles! LOL. Man some of yall are hella sensitive when it comes to Briles. **** I would take Mullen before taking Briles. So I guess he would be my distant 4th option. But whatever.
You **** right you take Mullen before Briles. He's been a Head Coach at a P5 school.

I don't care for Briles. His offense is too simplistic. Did nothing at FSU. I'd rather have Coley over him. Brady's scheme is the best.

I think we should take a hard look at Jeff Banks for special teams and recruiting coordinator.

Why don't people find Dorsey very intriguing? Is it only because he hasn't formally called plays before?

It's not that he's an ex-player/Miami guy. He would be very interesting whether he was here before or not. His 5 years of results with Cam and 2 with Josh at the highest level of football should be intriguing in itself.

Personally I don’t want a guy who has never been an OC or called plays before. We don’t need to pay guys to learn on the job. With Xs and Os not being Mario’s strong suit I want someone here with experience
