Also, is Lanning not calling plays at Oregon? Seems like he would - and thus (in theory) eliminate Schumann as an option there. Using common sense (there isn't a lot of this amongst CIS brethren), Muschamp wouldn't stay on if he wasn't calling plays; the only way he would was if he somehow became complacent in the last year or so, and is cool cashing checks and being around family. If he's the same fiery guy, his ego is too big for that.

What I don't want - and the more we wait, the more I fear this will occur - is Mario just brings a majority of his staff over here; that's a bit lazy given our supposed budget, imo.

Gotcha, thanks. If he goes to Oregon then to stay with Lanning, best of luck to him. I would like to think our offer could be more enticing, however, and he seems like more of a Southern guy (not that Miami is anything remotely like the South, but Eugene is very 180).

Understand, I'm saying Chaney isn't desireable at all, but I threw the name out to prove this very point among other things.

Joe Brady doesn't have half the resume of a Jim Chaney, and in his only stint calling plays, he got fired IN SEASON.

Joe Brady is riding on a one season stint in which he wasn't the full play caller, with a Heisman trophy winning #1 draft pick QB who was throwing the football to a WR who probably could've also been the number 1 pick and will most likely be the NFL offensive rookie of the year.

If you think Chaney is trash, I'm not sure how you can think Brady is any better.

I guess hopefully he's a east coast guy and doesn't like the west coast... would think we could match or beat any offer Oregon gives him.... and with us, it would be "his" defense, as opposed to even if he called his plays at Oregon, they'll say its Lannings D....

I've been curious about Venables since he was hired. I don't see that guy as someone who can sit there and let someone else run the show.
