I respectfully disagree. Freeman is a brand-new HC and Mario is experienced. Couple that with Miami (as a university) being more proactive in funding coaches, staff, facilities, and NIL, and I think we are just as good both short-term and long-term.

Will be fun to watch, though.
Meant mostly defensive personnel and depth. They’re not lacking anywhere and are extremely talented.

We’re wire thin on the DL, have no LBers, and we have 1 good corner. The only position I would say we’re better off is safety.

Not saying you aren't plugged in (I know you are) but if Belk chooses ND over us, I'd chalk it up as the first true 'loss' that Mario has had since he's been here. I don't know what ND is offering compensation-wise and not aware of any previous connections between Belk and Freeman, but to turn down the opportunity to have full autonomy over the defense in favor of calling someone else's (and have them be involved), not to mention the Mario overlap, would not be a good look at all.
Just look at where NDs last few DCs are compared to ours. They are all head coaches and we have a DC, a safeties coach and an unemployed coach. Just a different level of esteem. Hopefully MC changes this trend.

Notre Dame has an endowment of $12.4 billion versus Miami's $1.3 billion. Plus they too have alumni with deep pockets.

I don't think Mario would do that. Mario's more calculated than that. He could still be on the list of considerations though if Mario is striking out on others. So if still in limbo and Brady is available theoretically I guess it could still happen.
100% Mario is smarter than that. If we didnt offer Briles, then Id bet Mario has 2 or 3 candidates he graded higher that are on the table and feels confident he can land one of them.

I just feel like Brady isnt completely ruled out. From his side, he should be considering us from a career perspective. I honestly dont think he will get an NFL OC spot this time around. If he does, it will be most likely with a very undesireable roster/QB situation which could really backfire on him and put his NFL career on thin ice. If he is hellbent on just being an NFL guy, no problem. He can pick up an analyst role or something and wait a bit. But if he is looking to get back out there and rebuild his brand quickly as an OC, our roster is set up well for him to do that. Then 2 years from now, he will likely get a much better NFL gig than the one he will get this year.

Long term thread. Tears threads are continuous and always ongoing. This will eventually stop and fade.

You are optimistic. What if Mario never hires an OC and DC and just runs with interim position coaches for the season? And God forbid if a coordinator leaves after next season. This thread will spring back to life and crack 10k

I might have missed it, but we haven’t heard a peep from Mario since the NC game. He’s obviously not a spotlight ***** and I’m sure he’s busy with recruiting and other things, but I find it a bit odd we’ve not heard from him.
Maybe he is interviewing for the open NFL positions. **** his last stop here was only for 3 weeks.

From what I read about Brady is that he does prefer to remain in the NFL but has not ruled out going back to college. If he is still unemployed and we still have an OC vacancy it would be dumb of Mario not to pull the trigger on him. He may be a 1-2 year rental but still that would be a homerun after taking some whiffs.

I'd take Brady in a heartbeat.

The one desirable situation Id think Brady would have his eye, would be if Brian Callahan from Cincy gets an NFL HC job. In that case Im sure they would entertain the idea of hiring Brady as the OC to reunite him with Burrow.
