Yeah, but those are above-board contracts. Everyone walks into that contract knowing precisely what they're getting and the risk each is taking on. But, this world of adults making deals with high school kids is shady. I know that some kids are already dealing with agents negotiating on their behalf so I presume there is some clarity in terms of what is owed between each side to the deal. But I am struggling to understand what happens when kids don't make it? Or, worse, what if a kid like Rashada just ends up being a middle of the road starter (Feleipe Franks to pick a name)? Is there like a base payment + some incentives?i think of these contracts like shoe contracts for pro athletes, it's all based on projection
for every Lebron & Nike contract there's a zion getting $12 million/year w/ no return on the investment (yet) for the shoe company
I'm told Rashada's deal with the Gators is 4 years, $11 million. Miami decided not to go in that direction and preferred the quarterback in their class, Emory Williams.
That’s just crazy if true
Well I wonder what the other kids on the team think now, with him making 11M. Once a Gator always a Gator.Yeah, but those are above-board contracts. What I am struggling to articulate is, kids are being induced to play at a certain school with the understanding of, say here, $3MM a year, but it also seems very discretionary on the other side as to whether that $ is actually forthcoming or not.
Coming along? Kid has a long way to goWith J. Brown coming along, I don't mind this a bit. Even better Gator over paid for him.
I guess that's how it has to work. Some base for merely being enrolled + incentives based on play. And that begs the question how you value linemen or CBs for example that put up minimal stats. QBs are kind of easy from a statistical perspective.I’ll assume the deal is up to 4 years and worth as much as $11M.
Not guaranteed, but likely some upfront money.
Rashada will still have to earn a lot of that money by how he performs on the field.
While the deal is not technically performance-based, or play-for-play, his value is less if he tanks.
No?
UM apparently had no interest at that level ... that is what D$ stated up front as I read it.Did he give Miami the chance to match that offer?
If that is the case it means that Gattis, Ponce and our putrid offense had nothing to do with his choice.
Id imagine yeah. Its all speculation with these things thoughBut didn't he already miss a LW commitment? So IF Ruiz wanted to pull the deal he could for breach of contract correct?
