Some all important Freshman 40 numbers

Tracy came in 165 now he is 178
DUke is hovering between 185-190
Most of the freshman are weak
Kirby maxed 365 and benched 225 28 times
Denzel is at 230 and is the strongest linebacker
CHick weighs 270 bench 355 squats 420 power cleaned 315
Shayon green benches 415 did 225 30 times

clive walford runs in the 4.6's and benches 335 asante cleveland ran in the 4.7 4.8's

Good god. I can't wait to see Kirby and Perryman together just wrecking people. A LB trio of Johnson, Perryman, Kirby would be pretty physically imposing.

I love where this D is headed.

Chickillo's numbers aren't as good as you'd think: 355 bench press, 420 pound squat. For comparison, Perryman is at 400 bench press and 525 squat.

That is surprising. He looks bigger this year and I can't imagine him not busting his *** in the weight room. Were his numbers bad coming out of HS?

Aren't Chick's arms longer than DP's?

I'm not saying it makes a huge difference, but it does make a difference.

Perryman's numbers are gross though plus he is perfect size to tear up a weight room.

But yeah Chicks numbers are low but I think he is just scratching the surface physically whereas guys like Perryman and Kirby are ahead of the game.

Also, why only certain numbers? Where's this info coming from?

Can I get some numbers on O'Donnell, Blue, Paul, Eddie Johnson?

I need MOAR!

I was on the Kirby bandwagon from day 1. dudes got all the tools to be a leet LB.

still woulda liked to get Keith Brown in. oh well

Asante if he can stay healthy and keep progressing can give us what Bubba Franks did. Not a blazer by any means, but runs so fluid he still gets separation. No good having 4.5 speed like Richard Gordon had if you run in a hulking manner. Can't get in and out of cuts so you can't get open. Ideal world Asante can be the Bubba and Clive can be the Mondriel Fulcher.

I lol when I read "in a hulking manner" because I pictured him running arms flailing like a wild man.

I think the reason the coaches are excited is Chick's progression. Rival's quoted Swasey as syaing Chick went from 238 lbs to 265/270 in weight, from 315 to 355 in bench, from 365 to 420 in squats and from 286 to 315 in the power clean. So he's on the right trajectory. He "played big" last year as a TF. With another 30 pounds of weight and 40-50 pounds of strength, I have to believe he'll "play bigger" this year.

I'm not worried about Chick at all. He held up much better than I thought he would as a freshman at the point of attack, and he has the best hands on the DL. Just surprised.

I am curious to see Hoilett's numbers and Hope's numbers as well. Just want to see how some of the EE's and young guys are progressing on the weight side of football. I remember both coming in pretty light in ****.

BTW I'm impressed by Danny Dillard's 4.67/40 considering he's the out-of-shape power back.

Once he redshirts and puts on some good weight, he could be a productive north-south guy.

Oh, and Raphael Kirby is a MAN.

Kirby needs to be starting sooner rather than later. Kid is going to be an animal.

Would certainly pass the look test. Those guys bring some serious size and athleticism to the table as well.

Very curious to see McCord's numbers. He's looked a little light in the practice videos. Skilled and fast, no doubt, but its unfortunate we prolly can't afford for him to 'shirt this year since there is no depth on the end.

DUke 4.39
Tracy 4.65
Antonio Crawford 4.4
Malcolm Lewis 4.47
Kirby 4.6
Herbie 4.55
Danny D 4.67 (out of shape)
Lockhart 4.5 4.4 range

have at it

It was also raining that day....

Heard Deon had a 4.44
Rayshawn with a 4.55 (compared to VT with a 4.85)

I'm not worried too much about any of Chick's numbers. His best asset in a game is his relentlessness. He is not a super athlete, and never will be.
