So what do we think?

IMO assuming Gage and Rafe are gone we have only 2/3 players that I would consider critical losses. We have others that I wouldn’t mind keeping but they are definitely replaceable.
Agree. For the position players, besides Cuvet and Cyr who is a must keep?

Probably Torres hit .331 with 8 HR’s in his first full season of any meaningful playing time. He did run out of gas a bit before he got hurt but I’d like to see him back.

All that talent needs to be developed.
Yeah, no question. But is the talent there to develop? I mean, we had some guys who had a really good season. They were developed. If we had more of them and fewer automatic outs and BP throwers, would we be in a regional?

Do you plan on keeping Cuvet at 3rd? I thought he was adequate there. #1 priority has to be keep him in a Miami uniform.
When does Torres come back from his injury? Keep him? I would think he is 50/50.
Cyr? Will he be happy to play LF? If not, move on from him and spend his NIL $ elsewhere.
Dorian, go get drafted.
Priority has to be a C, SS and a super athletic CF...as well as some hitters. If you get a legit 3B, Torres is expendable.
Not sure if Reyes comes back?
There needs to be a complete roster overhaul of the position players.

I may be in the minority here, but I still don’t think we have a “coaching” problem per se. Like, I don’t think our problem lies in strategy, in-game decisions, practice habits, etc. We just don’t know how to bring in enough elite players.

I forget the thread, but someone posted a bunch of recruits from all over the country, and that was actually quite encouraging. If we show that we can find players from anywhere and quit bringing in the Miami Herald All County First Team every year, we might have a shot.
Seven through nine in the lineup weren't very good on most nights. Middle relief was pretty awful

Yeah I’d definitely keep him there outside of a few defensive hiccups I thought he was pretty good. If it means keeping Cyr I’d let him play whatever position he wants to try, isn’t he a natural SS ? He also looked really good in the outfield. Torres unfortunately isn’t getting 3rd back so he’ll have to settle for first base. I agree we need the positions you mentioned in the portal. We also need to pick up some speed, being in a battle for last place in steals is crazy for Miami baseball.

I failed to mention that we need more athletic players in relation to size and speed. I'm sorry but Gaby Gutierrez and Villegas are not the profile of players we need to recruit.

The coaching staffs equal responsibility is the ability to go out and get talented kids in that Miami uniform and continue to develop them…

We aren’t the New York Yankees and can just cover up poor drafts with big ticket FA signings.

JD recruited these pitchers… and probably signed off on quite a few position players too during their evals… no hiding from the buck that outside of Gage and Cuvet it lacked elite players..

I think @IndayArtHauz is probably correct although I think a coach or two will be sacrificed to the gods.

Something about JD…we were in bad shape before he got the job which means he deflected and more than likely took no responsibility during the interview. It isn’t his fault now just ask him.
Our pitching was what? And we hired the pitching coach.

I know it’s just baseball but I grew up in a time when I ran to the newspaper to read about us dominating with Coach Fraser. CWS and a trick play.

This is bull ****.

Agree here. Miami needs to be recruiting athletic baseball players. JD (and Gino before him) have been terrible at identifying talent.

The hidden ball trick is what the Miami Administration has pulled on all of us... acting like we are committed to sports, then only being committed to Miami-bros...

Yes, JD recruited and developed the pitchers on this staff. That being said...
We only keep Caba, Crowther, Diaz,Herick, Robert,Vargas and Walters.
It's imperative that the staff goes out and gets 3 POTENTIAL STARTERS FROM THE PORTAL.Yes, you might have to over pay for their services! With Gage and Rafe leaving we don't have a legit 1A 1B type guy. Nor do we have a closer, unless we move Herick to that role.
We have lots of freshmen coming in and perhaps some JC players...the three starters need to be the priority in the next two weeks.

JD better beg his boys Cora, arod, and whoever else was a big pocket shot caller to stuff that NIL coffer up for him this season

Cyr is a natural SS, that being said, he needs to play 2nd base. That will keep him here. He isn't a left fielder. Cuvet stays at 3rd and Torres at 1st. Move Gonzales Jr to the outfield and stop playing favorites. Cyr is the better player. Cora and D*&^% Rod are not going to pony up any NIL cash those guys are program killers. They wanted one of their buddies to "Get his shot"

With the scholarship rules changing for baseball 2025, Miami will be ok. But next year is going to be another tough one. I just don't see NIL saving a college baseball program. However, once you can give a Tampa or southern Georgia kid a full ride at Miami and we move on from the Morris coaching tree, we will be fine.

Cyr played fantastic in the OF this year. Dorian is a **** good infielder. Not understanding this argument between the two. Both of them are some of our best and consistent players.
