Rating him on a transitional recruiting class seems idiotic.
It really isn't. He's not receiving a transitional paycheck. The class is a solid B. The only additions to be excited about that weren't legacies are Finley and maybe Haskins and Martin. Our biggest needs were interior DL, OL, and CB and they were not adequately addressed.
he will get paid based on how his team plays not recruting. he can land top 5 classes every year but if he goes 6-7 he will be fired. he can get a 45th ranked class year in year out and if he wins 10 games he will keep his job. its simple coaches recruit to win but recruting is just part of process. golden landed top 15 classed year in year out but didn't win he is gone period.
yes his paycheck isn't transitional but he is being paid to coach a team not just recruit. he hasn't had that shot at miami yet and at georgia avg 10 wins per year. if he wins 10 games a yr at miami he will get top 5 classes and win a national title period. this class was a 1 month class basicly and sorry mcloud and richard decommited and bruce was looking hard around keeping those 3 was huge.
to act like those don't count is ridiculous. yes bethel , irvin and james were comign to miami no doubt, but he kept pickney, mccloud, quartermane, he kept bruce, got richards to choose miami over bama and if miami had hired a diffrent coach or kept golden make no mistake bruce is at osu or scar and richards is at bama right now, mcloud would of gone to georgia or another school not miami.
golden lost alot of players at last couple weeks last year , richt did a solid job keeping guys commited like mcloud and bruce and landing some nice players in finely, martin, johnson, guys with huge upside ant may be 3 stars but were recruited by power 5 schoosl not just temple.
