so IT IS Pinstripe Bowl Yankee Stadium (vs Rutgers) Mega Merge Bowl thread

Will feel like a home game for Buttgers unless the NY alums of UM show up in droves.
We play Temple and Buttgers in the same season for the first time since 2003.
Despite the afternoon kickoff the 2nd half will be played under the lights.
The players can visit the Freedom thing downtown and see the Statue of Liberty.
Winning would make a nice consolation prize for such a disappointing season.

It’s at 2:15pm on a Thursday in late December, there will not be any home field feel for RU.

It'll feel a lot like a home game for us against Rutgers at the Orange Bowl. 20K, max, just like the good old days. Only difference is, they will beat us. How far have we fallen? Well, this is it. Playing F'n Rutgers in a crap bowl.

I would imagine a Miami win would have to look very similar to the GT game last year. But hopefully Jacurri will surprise us

I'm not sure what your last sentence means, but the portal opens tomorrow. I fully expect to lose some guys, don't know which ones, but one or two will probably hurt.
I believe the only guy left who has been rumored of entering that hasn't made his intentions clear that I would be worried about losing is the younger Brown.

Obviously starting WRs could be a concern if they don't land a top QB.

Fair, funny is funny. My bad I've been on one today.

so we got FSUED and it sucks but this is the one and only time it is ok to get fsued!

Do you not realize Miami is the laughing stock of the CFB world? People who don’t root for this program think it is a complete joke. If we lose it’s another thing they (media, high school coaches, family and friends of recruits, other cfb coaches) can use to negatively recruit against Miami.

“Why would you go to Miami, they can’t even beat Rutgers”

Many coaches have discussed and commented how important bowl season is for building positive momentum and can be harnessed to help recruit the following years class.

I don’t understand why that is so difficult for you to comprehend.

This is the first step in rewriting the book on Miami that has plagued this program for the past 20 years.

Do you think Mario holds the same sentiment you do or do you think he’s going to do everything he can to win this game and end the year on a high note?
Being able to recruit/flip top Talent goes against narrative of being a joke. UM brand is not a joke. No matter what the media, other fan bases or even our own fans say. I’m with you about winning Bowl Game but The U Brand is not a joke even with the stupidity vs The Honey Bees 🐝

Goodness, I hate baseball fields. A typical football field has a crown and the height is not restricted or governed. The Original Orange Bowl had a rather extreme crown because of Florida weather. The recommendation: "Football fields– It is recommended there be a slope of ¼ inch per foot from the center of the field to each sideline. Note: The rise from each sideline to the center of the field is 20 inches when the recommended slope is used." This may seem insignificant but if a team fails to get practice on the baseball field prior to a game it can be a factor by causing over throws. When we played FAU on the Marlins field they didn't let us practice but they did. We had a number of overthrows. The crown is for runoff so if it rains things get messy too.

Not a terrible bowl game, solid matchup for Miami. At least with the location, our huge northeast alumni base can eat up tickets, so the crowd should be nice. Rutgers isn't a **** opponent, but it's a game Miami should be able to win, even with the significant losses due to the portal and draft entrants.

Their D is sound, but a little over-rated IMO.
No passing game on O. Just stop the RB.

Take their 24-13 loss to Wisky and plug that in for our winning score.

I think this is pretty realistic. I think Canes win, but Rutgers is on the way up.
