In that case Miami should have won it all in the 2000, 2002, and 2003 seasons.
I mean- we kinda did.
(Kinda but not officially)

Not Dmoney, but…@DMoney how far off do you think we are?
Except that OSU has a five star and two high four stars on their starting OL. The two three stars? Were listed as guards in high school. Guards (IOL) are rarely if ever given five stars. Furthermore - to your point about HS S&C - it’s really tough to accurately evaluate high school IOL.
Understood and agree. I was referring more to the way the rankings work with regard to IOL, meaning they typically never give any IOL a 5th star. It's hard to evaluate OL altogether, not just IOL.
In most cases you just have some big *** OL going up against guys way smaller than them. Sometimes the only time you see them against similar size is at a camp and that doesn't mean a whole lot.

Don't you get to post enough on Canesport?Miami has so much work to do in the spring window
Nowhere close enough to being elite enough to compete for National Title with this current roster
Stacking talent means stacking Top 50 talent every year and no whiffing
Requires elite recruiting that Miami is missing
Agree all the way around.Yes, my post was more for others. I should've made that more clear.
There's not a more gloryless position on the field than the guards, closely followed by the center. A lot of them come in as tackles, don't cut it, and end up there.
I'd bet most tune in on Saturday and Sunday fans couldn't name their teams three starting interior linemen. Back in our glory years and I saw entire home seasons, three national championships in person, I couldn't tell you their names unfortunately. Prior to the net, those names got lost to me if I'm honest.
Agree all the way around.
Funny story. I was a lineman in high school. Got to Miami and I thought about walking on. I worked up the nerve to go to the Hecht Center and start asking questions. I got on the HurryCanes shuttle and the next stop, Kerlin Blaise and some other monster got on the bus. They got off at the Hecht Center but I stayed on the bus. Drinking beer in the stands seemed like a better choice after seeing them in person.
To your point, I didn’t know their names at the time. Years later I looked them up and Blaise was the only one I could find.
This is basically what I hypothesized in my post on the first page. Any data on the first-round busts over the past 10 years or so? Maybe since playoffs began?Ok @DMoney- how many of these players were drafted because they were a top 300 player, and how many were drafted just because they were on the top team. I think this is not purely a cause-effect relationship, and its probably more about visibility in late season games rather than actually being good.
This is why we see so many first round busts lately imo
Santana Moss lived right above me freshman year in 1997 and when I stood next to him I felt huge.Agree all the way around.
