SIAP JESS SIMPSON EXPECTED TO BE MIAMI'S NEW DL COACH

Sorry you disagree with me.

It’s my opinion. 60,000 a year is a great living.

You make over $41 an hour. That’s very good IMO.

Not to mention you get the summer off.

This bothers me unlimited. I take it you’re not a free market guy, you want to put a cap on other people’s success up the livelihood ladder. Would you want the same for you? Please don’t come back with “I only make this much....” you work hard, you’re good at it, you deserve to be compensated accordingly, to what the market for skills will bear. If the scale goes further up and you keep up with your performance trajectory, you deserve to move up the scale. Whether 30/hr or 40/hr is good or bad, is all relative.

Wtf? Is there any evidence this guy has any ability at all to, you know, actually coach and teach D-linemen?
Do you have any idea if he can or can't? I think CMR has a whole lot more info on this dudes strengths and weaknesses than you. Jessica Simpson was the top dog in H.S. coaching in GA while CMR was the big dog in Athens. I'm sure they crossed paths. I trust our fearless leader. Why does nobody else?

I'm flabbergasted this is the actual hire. He clearly doesn't have the track record of development of Kool, and also has no track record of being any sort of proven recruiter. Between this and Patke, this defensive staff leaving a lot to be desired is an understatement.

NOBODY has the track record of Coach KOOL. That's why everyone on this board rightfully so called him the best D line coach in College Football.

The magical Hawaiian looked off a safety and the UGA kid blew it. There was nothing schematic or revolutionary about that play. That rep was lost on the practice field not the football science department.

Go watch Saban's interview after the game and he said "they went with Cover-2 and we ran Seattle, 4 verts, and he threw it in the hole."

Correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t the corner just get flat out beat, caught flat footed, maybe just for a tiny nanosecond peeking into the backfield, so the wr got enough of a jump to get by him, and then the safety just didn’t get over in time. It looked like an ordinary everyday assignment breakdown to me on a simple go, nothing that schematically complex. Just an ordinary defensive breakdown. Corner gets beat, safety doesn’t back him up.

No, they were in Cover-6 (1/4, 1/4, 1/2) the weakside Safety didn't get his *** over the top of the vertical.

99% of this bored had no clue who Kul was, in fact I distinctly recall people arguing he couldn't be all that because he spent so much time at Missouri. Now, we act like anyone on this board could name more than 5 elite DL coaches at any level of football. DL is where you make a smart hire, not a splash hire. Let's see how this guy pans out.
Well said.

Not slanted view at all. right? If you are talking about colleges, then the professors make very good money today and are overpaid for the crap they put out. High School is very different. Yes, coaches work longer hours but many teachers put in lots of extra time also. More important difference is the fact that coaches are working with a very narrow base of students and the survival of our civilization is hardly dependent on a few athletes. The broad student body in high school however, is in fact the future of the nation. Teaching is a vastly more important job than any game. That said, I love my Cane football so no amount of money is too much for people who help it along.

That's all fine and dandy...AND YOU HAVE A POINT...but the truth is...very few teachers make that kind of difference. They're just pushing kids through. In all my years on earth I can think of like 1 maybe 2 teachers that made any impact on my life.

Regardless, they don't work as hard and/or generate as much money as coaches do. It's not a slanted view, it's the truth.
These coaches we're talking about are also teachers. You realize that, right?
I'm friends with tons of teachers. This isn't me guessing.
Any coach would tell you that his football job is harder than his teaching job.

I know some of you guys like to pretend stars don't matter, but Wisconsin has like 3 four stars on the team. We were the more talented team and we were proving it by our 10 point lead in the first half. Not sticking with DJ Dallas after he brought us back from a bad start was a mistake by Richt. Not calling timeout the second QT when our defense was gassed was a mistake by Diaz. That Wisconsin game was probably the worst coached game I've ever seen (not considering al gondens time here or Shannon for that matter )

Wisconsin is a different kind of program. They’ve had continuity and the ability to build depth and experience. I’d bet 80-90% of their roster redshirts.

They field a team of strong, developed and experienced players. We’re still burning redshirts and playing guys who may not be even be ready physically for the next level.

Stars matter but so does having the luxury of having a redshirt junior matched up against a true freshman or sophomore.

Corner runs with wr, gets beat, safety didn’t get over. Very simple and basic entry level concept. So is running all the verts. What am I missing?

I don’t care if they’re running a cover 2, cover 6 (?), cover Jesus, that’s what happened on the play.

You're correct. Alabama WR, Devonta Smith, ran in a straight line and UGA guy(s) let him. We can try and dress that up all we want and create some football wizardry though. Much more fun. Likewise, we can credit Narduzzi for Rosier missing WR running wide open. Pure genius to scheme so our guys are "too wide open" for our inaccurate QB.

Man that can be said about any ****** play.

"Ehhh that WR ran a slant and the defense just let him."

The fact is, the REASON Devonta Smith ran "a straight line" is because UGA went Cover-2 on that side of the field. And the reason the Hawaiian threw that ball to Devonta "straight line running" Smith IS BECAUSE UGA WAS IN COVER-2 ON THAT SIDE OF THE FIELD. (which Saban eluded to in a post game interview) If UGA isn't in Cover-2 then that throw isn't even attempted. If UGA calls 1/4's coverage on that play then the NC game has a different outcome. Scheme always matters.

I literally just watched Narduzzi give a clinic on Saturday in Orlando. He showed/talked about the Miami game for a few seconds. He obviously didn't intend to have WR's running open. (CB's do get beat, ya know)
But you can bet your ***, if I'm playing a QB that can't hit the broad side of a barn then I'm going to play tight coverage and force him to make more accurate throws. In Pitt's case, this worked against Miami.

An argument for scheme can be made in any game.

The CB didn't run with the WR. He played the flats. (cause...it...was...cover...2...on...his...side...of...the...field)

Against Cover-2 the throw you want to attempt is the "hole shot", right between the CB and the Safety. (which is where the ball was caught)
If the Safety doesn't get over in time then you should have a completion. In this case, he barely got over at all and it turned into a TD.

UGA ran Cover-2 and Bama called/hit the main play that exposes Cover-2.
How is that not scheme? You think that was done on accident?
If UGA is in ANY OTHER COVERAGE, that doesn't happen.

...and in point of fact, the end result, is in real time, he had to run with the WR. Or are my lying eyes deceiving me? And I’m not a football coach, but I know what a cover 2 is, I’m not that dazzled.

No. He's supposed to play the flats.
If he runs with the WR then what happens if Bama throws a flair to the RB or a shallow crosser coming from the 3 WR side? Or if the QB breaks contain to that side of the field? (nobody is there)

He couldn't done a better job of re-routing the WR though.

It was a combination of the right play call by Bama, poor re-route by UGA, great read by the Hawaiian, late Safety play by UGA.
But if UGA calls any other coverage in that instance then that play doesn't happen.

Every play comes down to execution and obviously talent matters.
But to say scheme is irrelevant in college football is silly.

I watch teams get out-schemed all the time.
****, I watched our own team get out-schemed a bunch last season.

tell me this macho, and i'm not saying this with attitude or mocking you I genuinely want your opinion on this

how did diaz get to the level he's at when you can see the mistakes being made but he can't?

I'm not just asking about diaz either, what about the other coaches too who else on the team have you seen get out schemed/coached/game planned?

The corner runs with the receiver the entire play.

What did he actually do, Macho?
