SIAP JESS SIMPSON EXPECTED TO BE MIAMI'S NEW DL COACH

My MO? Seriously? I give my opinion, if you don't agree...cool.

I did say he is unqualified for the gig because he is unqualified for the gig. Go let him coach somewhere else and actually produce something and then consider him. Why do we have to give him his first real coaching gig? Is being a GA at MSU a real qualification?

I assure you if we left him as a bullchit assistant, no real program was going to come calling and take him. It is just logic. It is common sense.

I am also glad you backed off on Jon Richt being some qualified coach. He isn't. He has name and that helps. He should be busting his as$ because but for his father he isn't employed as a coach here.

My problem with guys like Jon Richt and Patke is we actually need real help at certain positions. We definitely needed help on offense and STs but instead we have these two. Who is going to help MR call plays and diagnose what is going on out there because none of our current coaches have that ability. Now we're going into year 3 and not one change there (on offense).

I am not talking about Jess Simpson, I was talking about Patke. I assure you if we wanted Partridge and made him a serious contender, we could have him over Patke. I know beating Pitt for a coach is really difficult especially one with ties to South Florida.

Not Just Patke and Richt. We legit have 3-4 paid coaches if not hired by us ...likely would be at some high school or div 2 at best school. This hire im not that down on...Patke = Yes. Coaching olb's???really we have like 2-3 of them..Our DC doesnt recruit much..WTF does he do that he needs help with in the positions?. We have 2 db coaches that dont = 1....to me its a rinky dink staff currently. I'll roll with it...because I like Richt as a HC...but the greenness in the staff is very worrysome..we're going to HAVE to recruit ELITELY...as we arent outscheming anyone moving forward on either side of the ball

One of the assistant coaches on Urban Cryer's staff at ohio taint is Kerry Combs. He spent his time at Cincinnati Colerain High School as head coach running the triple option and winning a ton of games. He is taints DB coach and gets rave reviews from Urbs. All the taint fans went crazy when he was hired. Urbs was smart . . . Colerain would send multiple players every year to Michigan and Michigan State. Those cincy kids now go to taint. CMR is smarter and more experienced than ANYONE on this board at football. I trust him. Let the man do his job. What he has done so far is wonderful.
we hired Mike Rumph from AH...TO BE our DB COACH..and cant get sh*t from the school from him. Just how the cookie crumbles..doesnt always work out like that.

You know who has alot of pull in Georgia Hs's MORE THAN THIS GUY?. Mark Richt.

Still think this isnt a bad hire.

Outscheming is a cliche buzzword that don't mean nothing except to lonely old men at sports bars who know nothing but act like they know everything. College football isn't about scheming. Pro football is all about matchups and tendencies, but college ball is a completely different animal. You can't scheme for shi* with 20 hours of practice per week by 20 year old college students.

College ball is all about talent, mental fortitude, effort, conditioning, and luck. If you have 22 strong and athletic kids that give you 100% effort, that don't quit mentally, that are conditioned to play 4 quarters of ball, you are going to win titles with average coaching and a little bit of luck with officiating, injuries, etc.

We won 11 games with the coaching staff you despise. We didn't lose to Pitt, Clemson, or Wisc because we were outschemed. We lost to Pitt because we weren't mentally ready to compete and we were tired. We lsot to Clemson and Wisc because we lost our best playmakers at TE and WR and were playing with like 68 guys on schollie against elite top 5 teams.

Y'all already know me.. My 2 questions are:

Can this dude croot?
Can he actually teach our DL how to play against the run? (Kool was only good at teaching pass rushing. Not sure he taught our players how to defend the read option and setting the edge on run plays)

Personally I wish we could of gotten someone with Louisiana ties because LSU is a dumpster fire and that Louisiana talent is up for grabs IMO.

let Me summarize thread. Poor hire, Unknown, needed big splash name like Dorsey or Reed, KP, Butch Davis; our staff sucks and is full of d2 coaches; Diaz sucks and is crazy and must have had a hand in this; Am I forgetting anything? Could all be a big Jedi Mind trick campaign to make everyone forget how terrible Rumph is.😂

I’m too tired to explain it to you, but if you can’t see that Wiscy out coached us, then I don’t know what else to say.

The Pitt game was rough, especially because of Rosier. But for a Def that was drinking the Kool aid and calling themselves elite and top 10, Manny’ called an awful game and let an awful QB run wild on us and throw an above average game.

How is this a "rinky dink" staff? Top rb coach, wr coach, head coach. Very good db coach and ol coach. And a new dline coach that was one of the best HCs in the history of GA high school football, that the Falcons saw as qualified enough to have on their staff.

See this is why i always say you should stick to just evaluating recruits, talking about coaches is out of your range.

Wisconsin was in the top 5 in time of possession and total defense and I think yards per play as well. And like 10 of their starters on defense were seniors. Tell me we lost to them with a full squad and no injuries especially the qb and the coaching thing would be more of an issue. We didn’t lose to a bad team.

We have a staff full of amateurs. Prove me wrong

Richt said there were a ton of interest. Don't know if that was just coach talk or if there were legitimate interest from multiple DL coaches.

So that tells me if there was a lot of interest and solid names out there he feels really strongly that Simpson is a big addition to the staff.

Pitt loss was ugly no question but the other 2 teams were just better than us at that moment.

Agree a lot here. Outcoaching and outscheming are different things. The former is all the things you list. I haven't seen Alabama outscheme anyone ever. I see them outcoach and overwhelm with talent all the time.

FA sho. I know you know the coaching world so I wanted your hot take.

I mean, we know he was a very well established high school coach. And an NFL thought enough of him to seek him out. I could definitely see how this hire could pan out well.

People don't like the hire because it's not a well-known name, but there's plenty of great coaches that are unfamiliar names with fans. I just wish we knew more about his ability to develop DL and recruit. Guess we'll find out.

I think that’s a little higher than FL, right?

Also, Simpson had to be on the extreme far right of the bell curve. What would you say the average head football coach in GA makes?

Lots of HC's in GA make over 100k.

HC's in FLA get a $5k stipend, with the exception of a few guys at certain programs that have it made. I have a buddy who was offered a $20k stipend from a well established program. That would go on top of his teaching salary. (which would bring him to roughly $70k total)

In GA most of the assistants get an extra $10k on top of their teaching salary. Coordinators get $12k+.

Pretty ****ed up when coaches are making 6 figures and teachers are barely making 50K. Anyway.......I like the hire here.
Not ****ed up at all.

Coaches work a lot harder than teachers and often have better rapports with the kids.

Teachers go home at 3pm.
Coaches are on campus from 7am to 7pm+. Friday nights we're on campus from 7am to 11pm+. Saturdays we're back on campus at 8am. Then we neglect our families all weekend while trying to prep for next week's opponent.
The byproduct of all this hard work is winning. Winning = more money for the school.

Teachers get slightly less than what they deserve.
