SIAP, but holy crap @ Duke

I hope we don't put brandon harris jr on a island... **** might get real ugly for him..

I'll reserve judgment until I see him on the field - but a 4.65 from Howard has me a little worried.

LMFAO you act like every CB needs to run a 4.4. That Florida CB who's at the Browns now did amazing in college and is doing pretty good in the NFL running a 4.6.

I hate to give a Gator credit but Haden plays with confidence and BALLS. He is also a **** good athlete (good returner) even though he doesn't have that elite 40 time.

Howard has the same demeanor.

Haden ran a 4.57 at the combine then in the mid 4.4's at his pro day 2 weeks later.

Haden keeps getting compared to Howard in these threads because he's the only example of a slower CB who has excelled that anyone can think of. It's very rare.

I'm not at all discounting Howard. By all accounts he has all the tools and I'm hoping he can be great here. But I'm worried because great CB's who run in the mid 4.6's are rare, so I'm waiting to see it on the field.

But I'm already all in on Duke and Lockhart - haha.

Who ****ing cares what his 40 time is? Can he play or not? Can he cover at this level? That's all that matters. Anything else is statistical jerkoff fodder.

This. More to the point is, IF we're gonna be concerned with a 40 time, Freshman testing is NOT the time to worry. Howard has been in the S & C program for like 5 min. If he's at 4.65 now and 4.65 in a couple years, then I'd worry a little bit more. There is NO CHANCE that he doesn't improve that number dramatically.

My point in my OP was that Duke is already running a sub-4.4 time. He'll improve that too, or he'll keep that time there and add some significant muscle. Either way, his future is very bright. (As is Howard's, for that matter.)

Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain both ran in the 4.5s. Different NFL back then, but that NFL is similar to the current framework (rules) in College.

Lets not stick our head in the sand we are all worried about Tracy's 40 time... Lets be real acc teams are going to go at home deep..we will see what happens

The 40 maybe the most overrated metric used in any team sport. It's lateral explosion and your first three steps that matter at the highest level.

Not to mention this is college where receivers barely know how to run routes.

These Howard 40 time debates have reached Miami vs. BYE levels.

Antrel Rolle ran a 4.5 going to the NFL and he was as dominant a college CB as you will see. Howard is more Rolle than Kelly Jennings.
