SIAP, but holy crap @ Duke

Howard's time is fine, especially for a true freshman.

Straight-line speed isn't the most important attribute for a CB. Quickness, acceleration, fluidity of the hips, technique, and awareness are all more important.

No need to run fast when the receiver is on the ground in front of him.

I care more about Howard's shuttle than his 40. In any case, his best attributes will be on display when he plays zone.

Yeah you guys are right I would rather have DVD than Tracy Howard

/ thats what you are saying by hinting to being worried by the 40 times

I would.

Tracy hasnt done **** so far. Will not crown him until he earns his gold.

DVD has a throne already

I remember i told dudes tracy ran a 4.6 4.7 and i got negged...lol

Charles Woodson is still making plays at CB and he no longer runs a 4.4. Not saying T. Howard is comparible to C. Woodson, just the fact that guys with instincts find ways to make plays.

What does Revis run in the 40? I bet it's not that fast. Dude just has that skill of how to play CB and he prepares like nobody else. Not saying Tracy is on Revis island level, but people definitely shouldn't be worried about his 40. Especially when he's calling out the offensive plays on his first day of practice.

From @caenswatch (aka Jorge Milian) Andreu Swasey says that Duke Johnson ran 40 yards in 4.39 seconds during freshman testing. Tracy Howard clocked in at 4.65.

That's not Jorge Milian twitter account did you make a typo or is this another fake twitter account?

Tracy refused to run 40's at certain camps, and his film doesn't suggest he's a speed guy. In fact, he looks like he plays about 4-7 yrds off some WRs before the snap. Either way, the young man can play and if he is as technically sound as everyone is hinting at, then he should see the field a lot sooner too.

We already have a fast, raw, CB in V.Davis.. I'm glad Howard is more of a student of the game

Revis ran a 4.38 coming out of college. Charles Woodson is now at Safety.

By all accounts Howard has great smarts and instincts - all of that is going to hopefully make him a great player here.

But you can't discount speed at the CB position. No, speed isn't everything. But if a 4.65 is correct, there will be times when he has to stay stride for stride with a WR down the sideline and won't be able to. There will be times when he has to chase down a guy from behind and can't.

4.65 is LB speed. That lack of speed will get exposed at CB.

And his speed should improve in a college strength and conditioning program. This isn't like D. Wiggins running a 4.9, a 4.65 isn't the end of the world, it's a starting point.

I'll reserve judgment until I see him on the field - but a 4.65 from Howard has me a little worried.

LMFAO you act like every CB needs to run a 4.4. That Florida CB who's at the Browns now did amazing in college and is doing pretty good in the NFL running a 4.6.
