Siaki "Apu" Ika 2019 DT as a Miami Recruit

The only thing that scares a southern savage is a cannibal from an unknown island somewhere in Oceania. Stories have leaked that this guy practices the island tradition of eating human hearts. Also, Ivins had a tweet earlier that said he is the ancestor of the family that killed everyone on Easter Island.

OMG GUYS! He retweeted Chad Thomas, its happening....Just getting it out of the way before everyone freaks out about it.

Not happening. We need someone on staff that's of the culture or family in the area for this to work. I went in to great detail when most thought Falo was coming here as a TE. It's not happening until we bring family in the area or get someone on staff from the Polynesian culture.

So we can’t land a dude that’s 20 miles from campus but we’re fliping a samoan kid from bama?
The same bama that has an entire Polynesian family on board. The same bama that has otherr Polynesian kids on their roster?
They have 4 commits that are playing in the Polynesian bowl this year. We ain’t landing this guy.

Didn't know there was many Polynesians around SEC country yet there is many that play around the SEC.

Plus the Haku is so Miami

See Bama w their lead recruiter, Tosh Lupoi.
If ur referring to Vanderbilt, see CJ Ah You on staff

What other SEC teams are strutting out Polynesian players? Serious question.

Yup. I spent a lot of time in various Pacific islands. You want to get a Samoan kid, you need someone from their culture, because it's so different than anything you would expect. It might be hard to believe in the 21st century, but they still have a hereditary tribal system. It's not ceremonial, the entire culture is still based on it. You get one or two Polynesians on staff and it's a done deal.

Or someone, at least, familiar w the culture. Get a coach on staff who may have coached at BYU, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Washington, and that will work. Once the door opens, it will become wide open.

yep him too i forgot but their starting dt is also a samon

I know; LSU w Aranda can pull them in. He understands the culture b/c he’s been apart of it for yrs in his previous stints. And he’s also from CA.

We just need someone on staff either Polynesian or who have coached them at the collegiate level to have a shot. W/o that, it’s a no bueno.

Smart programs are recruiting in Hawaii. There is a disproportionately high number of Polynesians in the NFL, so a smart college coach should keep an eye on talent in Hawaii. Miami would do well to do some scouting in Hawaii.

I don't know about this kid in particular, but yes, you would have a better chance at getting a Samoan kid from a million miles away if you had someone on staff who could speak to the culture over a kid 20 miles away who is a frontrunner and easily swayed by bags. BYU isn't winning a national championship any time soon, but they are a top destination for just about every polynesian kid. The interesting thing is that they tend to be ultra devout Christians, so Richt has a strong selling point, but need to pair that with an understanding of the culture and Miami would absolutely become a destination for polynesian recruits.
