Lets talk Siaki "Apu" Ika 2019 DT as a Miami Recruit would be a game changer for UM's dline philosophy because he is space eating two gap NT that can absolutely impose his will at any time on offenses if he can keep his weight under control.

I think Miami is coming to the party wayyyyyy late in this young man's recruitment due to the rumors that Bama is going in another direction from Ika. Most likely due to endurance concerns and Bama already has a steady pipeline of local athletic big body types year in and year out. Where as Miami struggles to consistently get these war daddy types, so that's a benefit in favor of UM.

Ika has 1 official visit left after his Nov 3rd visit to Oregon, an this visit was ear marked for Bama.

Every year CMR and staff take a stab at a few top ranked OOS recruits late in the cycle and this is one I like a lot but the UM's odds are tough but let's ride an see what happens.

LSU is a major dark horse I see working on this young man, because he is perfect for their system. But like at Bama he would one of many big bodied players in a LSU production line. Rather than being a stand out at Miami, an between Kyle Bellamy and Coach Gus we would have Ika in the best shape of his life playing at a slvete 6'3" 320lbs down from 360lbs.

Here is a very good article on his background

Wonder how he would fit in the locker room? I want his talent badddd but I doubt he'd want to come to Miami even though it would be nice to establish a nice little pipeline.

He reminds me of a Poly version of Vince Wilfork. It sounds like he has a very good and informed family support base. But moving across the country it would crucial to have that void filled for him to succeed. Hopefully if Ika signed with UM he could his version of Bianca Wilfork.

Are you kidding, at 370lbs he wears a cropped Jersey with no shame. Him and Nesta would be frightening coming off the bus 1 and then 2, with Jordan Miller 3rd and jon ford last.

You just had to, somehow, mention a big woman lmao!

We need to get a pipeline of these dudes from Somoa, Fiji, Hawaii, etc.

Send him a tape of willis and our dline causing havoc and ask if he wants to showcase his talents in college and for the NFL

I would be beating down the trail at ever DT croot with film of Willis and asking them if they want that kind of production/showcasing

Should have been on him last year, recruiting the whole family

There's some guys you can get late, this doesn't seem like one of them

Lets hope for a miracle tho

Have you not seen most Polynesian women those are some big bone'd betty's, but more so I was referring to Ika finding a girl to keep him grounded much like Bianca did for vince.

Another thing to think about with NT Siaki Ika is if Bama does drop him or slow plays him until the 1st NSD, if Ika doesn't sign with anyone then the players that are left over for the 2nd round of NSD are subject to schools that drop major bags to fill the wholes they missed on during the 1st NSD.

If Miami can't get him and his Family to OV then we are out of it. An if he does OV then decides to take his time and wait until after NSD to decide then we are finished.

Now I am not saying he is looking for Bags, but a big DT after NSD can practically name his price and the schools in need of a DT will come pretty close to meeting that price. Hopefully Miami's program, family feel, small campus, and CMR's religious infusion can sway Ika.
