Lets talk Siaki "Apu" Ika 2019 DT as a Miami Recruit would be a game changer for UM's dline philosophy because he is space eating two gap NT that can absolutely impose his will at any time on offenses if he can keep his weight under control.
I think Miami is coming to the party wayyyyyy late in this young man's recruitment due to the rumors that Bama is going in another direction from Ika. Most likely due to endurance concerns and Bama already has a steady pipeline of local athletic big body types year in and year out. Where as Miami struggles to consistently get these war daddy types, so that's a benefit in favor of UM.
Ika has 1 official visit left after his Nov 3rd visit to Oregon, an this visit was ear marked for Bama.
Every year CMR and staff take a stab at a few top ranked OOS recruits late in the cycle and this is one I like a lot but the UM's odds are tough but let's ride an see what happens.
LSU is a major dark horse I see working on this young man, because he is perfect for their system. But like at Bama he would one of many big bodied players in a LSU production line. Rather than being a stand out at Miami, an between Kyle Bellamy and Coach Gus we would have Ika in the best shape of his life playing at a slvete 6'3" 320lbs down from 360lbs.
Here is a very good article on his background
