Should the #26 jersey be retired?

No. It pays homage to ST. How many kids say that their favorite Hurricane was Sean Taylor? This way, they get to honor him when they come to the U by wearing his number. Unfortunately, we haven't had anyone worthy of wearing that number since Sean.

This. There will never be another Meast but we should let those kids who are up to the challenge bust their *** to do his number justice.

Marlin Barnes and Bryan Pata are no different than Sean. Wouldn't be fair to retire just #26.

I'm not in favor of retiring ANY numbers. A better way, IMO, to honor those special players would be to hold those numbers for seniors who have shown themselves worthy of wearing the numbers of legends. That way, you honor a worthy current player and the guys like Mira, Hendricks, Dooley, Testaverde, Taylor etc.

He's most gifted player to ever play at the University that has the most talented alumni in college football history.

But i think the situation is different for Taylors jersey we never got to see him finish his career in the NFL tho not saying that has anything to do with the University retiring it but i think it makes sense because he was murdered

that's debatable.

many players might have the "talent" that you said but there are numerous players who have CONTRIBUTED a lot more than ST did at the U.

also, if we start retiring numbers, we would literally run out of jerseys to give to players.

I kind of like the idea of making it rotate every game. Like "who earned it" this week in practice gets to wear it on the defense. Might be a little cheesy but...I like it.

I think retiring numbers is a stupid tradition so no I don't think it should be. Honor them in other ways (such as Ring of Honor/Hall of Fame).

Retiring a number doesn't honor them enough, and I'm not a fan of it. I want kids working to get their hands on that #26 jersey.

No. I'm against all retired numbers. Bring back 10, 14, 42, and 89. Should ST be honored in some way? Absolutely. Put him in the ring of honor, come up with another way, but don't stop using the number.

He was physically one of the best, but when I use to to attend the games late 90's Ed Reed was on another level. It seemed like Reed knew the other teams whole playbook and was a 1st team All-American his jr and sr years and carried it over into a HOF NFL career.
