Short clip from practice

Kinda wondering why AQM has no help out there on the perimeter. Should either be a safety coming down or an inside linebacker scraping over.

We're kinda screwed in the C and/or D gap on those plays. If AQM goes inside, RB can hit the outside. If AQM keeps outside contain, RB can hit it inside. (like we saw)

It's not full-go though.

In our scheme is he not responsible for both gaps?

Also, I'm not sure, but I don't think saw WRs/DBs in that drill.

Maybe if it's 11-on-11 there's a safety there to fill.

Looking at the second play I think there were only three OL in the play. Must've been an inside running drill.

He can't protect C and D gap. That's impossible.

He either "spills" (i.e. go inside and make the ball spill outside)

Or...

He "hammers" (i.e. take the lead block on with his inside shoulder and keep outside contain, forcing the ball inside)

Can't 2-gap on the perimeter against a kick-out block. Impossible.

And even if it isn't 11-on-11 you should still have a safety participating so he can learn his run fits. Since we don't usually roll a safety down and play cover-3, that's probably why they're absent.

Or it could have been a strictly offensive drill teaching lead blocking responsibilities...

Has it occurred to anyone that this could be a positioning drill? to teach the fundamentals of where to be and how to react to a run. Thus, they don't want their players getting banged up and injured on what should be essentially a skeleton drill with pads... Jesus christ guys calm the **** down.

This board has gone to ****, I think D'onofrio is not a good DC (for reasons I don't feel like going into this post). But the guy isnt retarded and running flag football. You can see in the canes camp videos they do go full out, this was a simple positioning drill. Unrustle your jimmies

Prove it! ;p

They're clearly goin full-tilt, or atleast 3/4. Not sure how anybody can deny that. You can hear their pads popping and the coaches yelling.

Not saying this clip is sign of things to come or anything. My jimmies aren't rustled like some in here. But it's clear to me that they're popping. This ain't walk-thrus.

No.

Could've been.

But that would mean our defense would be running a "scout" version. (i.e. the typical defensive front they would see)

In that video we're clearly in our base defensive front. (not a scout front)

Just sayin'.

I don't even need to see any clips from practice to know this defense will be dog **** yet again. There are fundamental issues with this defense that just can't be fixed in years let alone in 5 practices. The last time we saw this defense they were getting ran through. Teddy Bridgewater looked better against our D then he did against air the other day. I doubt much has changed.

Looks like we still have the 5 yard defense. Stand straight up, get blown off the ball 5 yards, then try and make a play. What an excellent scheme we have in place. Really puts our players in the best position to make plays. :ohlord:

It's so frustrating to watch. We let the offense dictate how we play. Our scheme takes away the play-making ability of our front 7 in non-obvious passing downs. We were 112th in the nation in tackles for loss last season.

This buffoon knows nothing about applying pressure to an offense. Run blitzes, effective pass blitzes you name it.
