Seriously: WHEN WILL THEY LEARN

Most importantly, do we have an official list of posters to @ for user name vetting moving forward?

Assuming OP was unaware then it was just one **** of a coincidence.

This had nothing to do with politics, or being a social justice warrior or any of those other tropes. Politics, party affiliation, who you voted for President has nothing to do with it.

That name means a very specific thing outside of a weather connotation. Just google it alone or with 1964 and see what fills most of the page. There’s a reason for that. It’s kind of like if someone was ignorant of 20th century history and decided to have a screen name of mein kampf. Technically, the words by themselves aren’t wrong or racist, it literally means my fight or my struggle, but regardless of intent, it would still be considered unacceptable to most people to have that as a screen name.

Having said that, I suggest the OP familiarize himself with the connotations and decide for himself if he wishes to continue with the screen name. As long as no hate speech is posted, there is little else to do but leave it to the common sense of the OP.

OCC like I said I'm 65 and had NO IDEA what it meant so it is very possible, and from his posting very likely,he had no clue either.

While I don’t think Chatfield would be making a mistake if he ended up at UF, I think it would be a HUGE mistake for Nesta to go there. Him and Chatfield don’t really fit in the same system/scheme IMO.

Thank you for your thoughts. I appreciate the suggestions. I’ve also received other suggestions telling me that I don’t have explain myself to anyone on this board. And while that is true. I also don’t want to offend anyone or be insensitive for whatever reason. That’s why I responded to the questions. But I have no intention of changing my handle. Because as I’ve stated I’m a Canes fan and have nothing to do with any bigotry or racism. I’m disgusted by it. But also, if I wanted to read or post about politics or history I wouldn’t be on CI. This is a sports forum. So now for me this becomes a point of principle. I’m a Canes fan, nothing more, nothing less. So if anyone has an issue after this my final post on this issue, they can deal with it.... after all I’m not important. As another poster said, “he’s just an old guy.” Right? What do I know, I’m probably senile and drool on myself.

Change your name. It’s just a name. Why keep it and offend some of your Cane brothers and sisters?
Exactly what principal are you standing on? You yourself believe the philosophy associated with the name is vile.

The principal of freedom of speech and expression. But it goes beyond that now. There exists on CI a culture of bullying of intimidation. And that just doesn’t fly with me. So I encourage all on CI who have a problem with what I post or how I do it, or my handle, to please block me. If you feel offended please do so. Thanks.

Your call. You’ve had your say and deny affiliation with the hate group stormfront. Excellent.

I do think you’re a lot smarter and more aware than you’re letting on, and that’s even more reinforced by this post.

As long as you’re comfortable with that screen name, which I honestly find odd, then there’s nothing I can do about it.

One word of advice, don’t have your screen name printed on a T-shirt and wear it around town. At least not if you live in south Florida or any other metropolitan area.
