Seems like a disconnect here.

I already expressed my feelings on this recruitment a few weeks back. I'll just say, this would be a bad loss. not just because of Johnson being a good player, but that he was the ONLY QB we were going after. top priority, coach traveling from one coast to another a bunch of times, only to lose out to a team that already has a qb committed.

Absolutely. Lil Richt can only bring 1 thing to the table, and that’s recruiting. He’s not a QB coach/expert, not a Xs and Os mastermind. His 1 job is to literally get 1 recruit to sign each year. If he can’t do that, he shouldn’t have a job here or should be a GA to continue to learn.

Since when is a "late offer", 9 months before signing day, a snub? I don't get that. I'd rather the hot chick at the party say she wants to take me home at 2 A.M. than not at all. I sure as **** wouldn't feel snubbed at 2:30.

We just didn't recruit Dunmore that hard. Why is there a disconnect there? He's going to the school that actually put in the effort.
MJJ appears to just be a loss. So far we've basically landed every QB recruit we've wanted. That probably isn't going to happen every year. Looks like this is the year it won't.

You act as if MJJ committing elsewhere means that 1) his recruitment is over and 2) there still isn’t months left to go after another QB.

If you want to debate the strategy of going after one QB this whole time then I think that’s a worthwhile discussion. But a lot of people are making this an end of the world situation when it’s not.

Guys, guys, put your cool aid down and quit worshiping coach.

Watch highlights of Miami's 65-7 beat down of #12 washington in 01, we were loaded with nfl all pros and over 35 nfl draft picks. What were doing now isn't going to get us near there any time soon.

You never seize to amaze me with your tireless efforts to bring us such quality info

Okay *******, explain the logic behind the countless trips, hours and money chasing johnson all the way across the country and not sealing the deal, when there are better options nearby. Dunmore is right here and a very very good player and we wait and wait before offering. Then we go after countless projects who take 2 years to develop, play their jr. Year and then bolt to the nfl.

Kinda agree on MJJ...Should have had backup plan 100%

. As for Dunmore, WR is about the 7th or 8th biggest need on this team, and there just seems a little air of prima donna around him. I mean the 3 diff schools years isn't as big a deal anymore because everyone in the state of florida is transferring now. I wonder if even that late offer was ever commitable. But I get the sense they weren't thrilled w Dunmore in some aspect, are fine with 1 this year, and will take 2 only if the right 2. JMO.

I thought we had MJJ and still might sign him. But .... placing myself in the kids shoes. IF Max Jonhson, CRM nephew signs in 2020 could MJJ be assuming that blood is thicker than recruiting? and all being close to equal the job belongs to Max Jonhson? Now PSU with a Top QB signed makes no sense.

Wut? Who are the countless "project" WR prospects we've taken? Based on pure recruiting class rankings, we've probably signed one of the best WR classes in the country under Richt. Receiving recruits, whether they be TE or WR, is probably are highest rated unit under the two full Richt classes.
The staff just didn't really care for Dunmore. They seemed to be lukewarm on taking two WR recruits, and if they were, really wanted that other recruit to be Ladson. We lost him to Clemson.

LoL, on the irvin piece, just remember, the tightend position is, in my opinion is the 2nd hardest position to play, you got to be able to block defensive ends and than out run linebackers or get covered by db`s, and hold up the whole game. With that being said, irvin going into year 3 is the best prepared, while the young guns have more natural talent, irvin like aldarius johnson can be called "glue hands" too. In order for us to have a physical running game, irvin will be important!

Also on the qb chase, you gotta give it to coach richt, to even be in the running for the qb they're after is impressive when you consider who's already here. If jr. does sign here, that would instantly prove he has balls, but if he doesnt come, itll only hurt the competition aspect of our team maybe for a year if someone transfers or gets injured, but like our receiver position, we not hurting for a qb at this moment, coach richt's track record on developing qb's that stay in his system is real solid, 2 heisman trophy winners in ward & weinke!, throw in aaron murray who still holds the sec record for td passes, and matthew stafford needs no introduction, that's a real good track record. Also coach richt was ahead of his time with the offense that most in college football are running now, charlie ward was being questioned by the nfl at a time when they werent sure what to do with qb's like him, even tho randall cunningham was in the league, but now alot of teams want to draft "dual threat" qb's although they still get questioned (see lamar jackson)!

He panicking like we are recruiting like UF. we are top 15 and probably will still finish top 10 if we finish like we think we will. UF is 20 spots behind us taking the scraps of the state.

Not trying to disrespect any recruit just getting my point across

Go tounge punch your dogs ****

BTW, MJJ's uncle who posted the "uhhhhh no" was just disputing OP's claim of what coaches told MJJ. His comment had nothing to do with actually whether he was out or not.

MJJ is not playing this season or next, and Max Johnson will be coming behind him in 2020.

This will be true for any QB who signs in 2019, so bring me someone who wants to be a hurricane and isn't afraid to compete. If MJJ doesn't want to be here we'll be okay.

He wouldn't play until 2020 at the earliest, and that's if he's an absolute baller. WR recruiting isn't our problem.
