scrmmage

Its amazing how Ray Ray was considering entering the Draft this year and that he was pegged by a lot of scouts as a goner because of where he could possibly go in the draft when i reality he just really needed to finish out to try to get better. Ive been hearing nothing but negative things this spring about him so far. Too slow, getting burned, not even looking at the quarterback at all. Very frustrating...
Apparently Senat was there too. :newman:

I agree. Both Ray Ray and Vaughn were non-factors tonight though. Frustrating.

D$, were you not there?

Got stuck at work, hurting right now. Seems like the young quarterbacks were more comfortable this week.

Good to hear about Finnie and Gunter. As crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't mind either guy getting snaps as a situational safety. Need speed there to complement VT and RayRay.

If all what you guys are saying are true about VT and Ray Ray, man, we better hope running backs don't break past the second level or quarterbacks have enough time to find receivers open down the field because it gone get down right ugly with the quickness.

Dewey will red shirt. His injury last year really set him back. Still, he seems to have improved with this scrimmage.

Crow plays with crazy eyes. I like his intensity.

The comments are valid about them, but it's not like they got worse from last year, it's that they are still doing the same things over and over and have not shown improvement in their time here.

No disrespect Sho, but IMO, if they are still doing the same things they are getting worse. In college football seniors with three years of experience should be improved from previous years. If you don't progress in theory you regress. RayRay and VT have the summer to figure it out but it is so disheartening to hear reports of the same unathletic, taking bad angles, and no improvement in the speed catergory. I'm by no means giving up on them. We need them to play like we and they know they can but dang bro, start making plays.

Great turn out in Fort Myers. Scrimmage was ok. Give them the benefit of the doubt its spring football. Play was sloppy in some positions. Nothing better than football in March in your home town. Beautiful weather, seen a girl from the jailbait thread, and most of all I see change. These coaches are riding these kids. Sat by good ole Tyler Horn. Big kid signed a couple autographs. The big talk in the stands was Randy "Duke" Johnson.

Oh trust me, I am not happy about it either and it is terribly frustrating that they have not improved, especially Ray Ray and all the hype he gets. I was just pointing out that their play on the field isn't any different than last year; it's not like suddenly there is some gaping hole at safety that wasnt there last year too. It sucks they are not improving and depending on the play of those in front of them, they may end up looking better or worse than last year, but they are the same product, at least from the reports we have heard so far.

The team looks better than years past. More effort, more size, more speed, more heart.

And that's without

Tracey Howard (will start at CB)
Deon Bush (will play a lot at CB)
Duke Johnson (will play a lot at RB)
Angelo Jean Louis (will start at WR)
Tyriq McCord (will play a lot as a rush end/LB)
Malcolm Lewis (will play a lot)
Jelanim Hamilton (redshift)
Jacoby Brisco (kid is bigger than most of our DTs already and will play a lot)
Herb Waters (this kid will play a lot)
rayshawn Jenkins
Antonio Crawford

Really hope Jean-Louis makes it into school. Agree with the rest of your assessment. If Howard, Bush and Crawford can make an impact at CB I would love to see Gunter get a shot at S in hopes he can give us some athleticism and speed back there.

The only really bad display of tackling I can recall was the short pass to Thompkins where he shook 5 guys to go the last 7 yards for a TD. Worth mentioning because it's the first time he's done anything away from Greentree.

This is good to hear. Seems like they are making little improvements in the defensive basics. Less missed tackles, then they start taking better angles, and then you're looking at a top 10 defense.
