Was told tonight from a guy I know in South Florida that the confidence in UF and Scarlett is growing by the day. Was told tonight that Scarlett's girlfriend is looking to apply to UF next year. Was told she's a smart girl and really does have a good shot of getting in. Scarlett has interest in Florida already on his own due to Mac and just how hard UF is recruiting him, but his GF possibly being there could really be the icing on top of the cake.

I am not sure if she's a slam dunk to be accepted into UF I am just going by what I was told, but her interest in going to school there is definitely something that could play to UF's favor with Scarlett. We'll be sure to keep an eye on that.

He is still planning to OV the weekend of the 23rd.

Yeah, you really have to be cream of the crop to be accepted to UF.

I hope you realize that UF is probably the most difficult school in the state to get accepted into. Most UF enrolled students would easily get accepted into UM, the issue is the tuition. Why pay all that money when UF is a good academic institution with benefits a state funding? Smaller classes? Well once you're in your major, the classes are no larger than 15-20 students. I don't know where some of you get that UF is a bad institutuion. Most of the institutions in Florida are good schools and can sell something that a lot of schools can't. However, the perception that UM is the Harvard of the south is false.

agree with your post except for the part about people believing UM is the Harvard of the south. if he existed that person would be delusional. UM is barely a top 50 school at around the same level as UF.

UM gives a ton of grants and scholarship. most of the student body isn't paying close to full tuition at UM. most so fla kids would rather leave miami for school than stay. UF and UM are about equal in academic standing overall and about as hard as each other to get into. UF has a ton more applicants per year though which skews the acceptance rate numbers. Miami was at 40.5 while UF was at 46.6 this Fall class. both are quality institutions and a step above FSU, UCF=USF, etc. if his gf is smart enough to get into UF based on numbers alone than she must be in the top 5% of her HS class, which is impressive. the academic rankings are a lot of BS in general bc reputation plays a role in the rankings and part of UM dropping is bc of the scandal. regardless, theyre both about the same in academics and accept the same quality students in general. UF is a great school to go to if ur from Florida though (free, gtfo out of the banana republic, quality education, college town nightlife).

I don't think you have any facts to back up what you are stating. Miami accepts 40% and Florida accepts 46% of applicants. They are both ranked 48th best university according to usa today

No I'm going by experience in applying to school back in 2006. UF who also has a higher enrollment was the more demanding of the two. Most students opt to pay less by getting a quality education. Most people don't know it but the hardest school in the state to get admitted into is New College in Sarasota. That being said, it's common knowledge among the academic community to know that UM isn't a Harvard of the south. And UF is some bad school. As I said, most students accepted in UF would be in admitted into UM. The issue is the cost. Why pay more when you can pay less for an education that is on par and depending on the major a better quality?

Funny. I've only ever heard Gators call UF the Harvard of the South or that there close to being Ivy and this started way back in the 90s when idiot friends of mine with 900ish SAT scores and 3.0s were getting into UF.

they wanted to be a public IVY for the longest time lol. its a good school but it isn't UNC Chapel Hill, UMich, UCLA, etc in terms of public schools).

Miami's acceptance rate was 40.45%. Florida's was 46.55%. FSU's was 56.8% in 2014. The difference is, UF was ranked much higher, and UM much lower until about 10-15 years ago. Miami has shot up the rankings, while UF has slipped down to where they are about equal now.

On Florida vs UM admissions....

They look at completely different things. Friends of mine got accepted to northwestern, Boston college, and UM with a 4.6 and a 2080 sat. However she was not in the top 10% of my class so she didn't get into UF. Another friend of mine had a 4.65 with barely any ECs and a 1830 sat but he got into uf because he was top 10%. I believe for each region and private/public school they have a weird criteria such as only accepting top 10%. Another friend of mine had a 2280 sat and got accepted into princeton but uf lost his sat score so when he sent it again they denied him.

a 4.6 GPA and a 2080 SAT and not accepted to UF? Sorry, but I don't buy that. I also have never seen anyone have over a 4.0 and not be in the top 10% of their class.

Do you really believe I just made that up? And a 4.6 gpa isn't top 10% because of our gpa curve. #1 student in my class had a 5.19. For my school they looked at one criteria and if you weren't in top 10% you didn't get in.

Then high schools in the south must be completely different. Where I'm from there is no gpa curve, you get what you earn and no one can get over a 5.0 but that's only with extra credit. So in reality where you're from a 4.6 is more like a 3.6 where I'm from. Makes sense in that standard.

Weighted Gpas can go up to 6.0

Vern what you hearing Miami or Florida? The last 3 days on boys twitter is nothing nice for Miami. We got any hope left

wouldnt walton redshirt? isn't he younger?
Naw he was originally supposed to be in the 2015 class but was in the 2016 class for whatever reason

Walton is younger than Scarlett by a year. Scarlett is about to turn 19 if not already while Walton is 18 or about to turn.

walton failed he is just as old as scarlett

No he's not I've seen both players birth certificates Jordan's back when he was playing for Tamarac and Mark's when he was at North side. Token is right Jordan should be turning 19 soon and Mark will be 18 in March. Like I said in the past Mark could have taken the easy way out and been the older kid who balled out as a Hs sr like so many former hs greats but he put in the work to try and graduate with the proper class.

Why do people argue when they have no idea what they are talking about? This guy pulled some random stats from a publication which we can all do. I mean FIU has the highest percentage students to pass the bar in the state. Does that mean they have the best law school? I knew if I posted my experience that he would be lost. How old is this guy? You don't know anyone with a gpa over 4.0. With honor, advance classes, dual enrollment and college academy students gpas can go to through the roof. I never seen anyone with a weighted gpa of 6.0 because of electives such as pe. The weighted and unweighted gpas allow institutions to determine the rigors of the students curriculum.

Kyle and Hoops don't argue. This guy doesn't even know that they changed the SAT grading scale. Instead of saying I didn't know he rather refute facts like a fool.

You are right Kyle. At my high school in 2006 there were quite a few students that I knew attended UF. I knew at least 10 students and none of them had below a 4.2. However I met a young lady from St. Petersburg with similar academic standing and she was hoping to get in because many of the students at her school was denied. They look at different things but my argument was its a good school.

Scarlett is turning 19 in the next few weeks.

Walton is not even 18 yet. In 2 months he will be 18.
