Scarlett and Cronkrite

I remember Conkrite was a bit uneasy about all the RB commitments we had.

If Scarlett commits to UF, would conkrite consider UM again or does he have some sort of new friendship with Scarlett that he would join him in Gainsville?

He was never uneasy about the backs here. He and Scarlett became pretty tight in San Antonio this past week.

Slow playing Jordan the way we did is hands down the biggest mistake we've made all recruiting cycle.

Was told tonight from a guy I know in South Florida that the confidence in UF and Scarlett is growing by the day. Was told tonight that Scarlett's girlfriend is looking to apply to UF next year. Was told she's a smart girl and really does have a good shot of getting in. Scarlett has interest in Florida already on his own due to Mac and just how hard UF is recruiting him, but his GF possibly being there could really be the icing on top of the cake.

I am not sure if she's a slam dunk to be accepted into UF I am just going by what I was told, but her interest in going to school there is definitely something that could play to UF's favor with Scarlett. We'll be sure to keep an eye on that.

He is still planning to OV the weekend of the 23rd.

Yeah, you really have to be cream of the crop to be accepted to UF.

I hope you realize that UF is probably the most difficult school in the state to get accepted into. Most UF enrolled students would easily get accepted into UM, the issue is the tuition. Why pay all that money when UF is a good academic institution with benefits a state funding? Smaller classes? Well once you're in your major, the classes are no larger than 15-20 students. I don't know where some of you get that UF is a bad institutuion. Most of the institutions in Florida are good schools and can sell something that a lot of schools can't. However, the perception that UM is the Harvard of the south is false.

I don't see Scarlett going anywhere. And too be honest I think he shirts. Scarlett maybe our most physically gifted back since McGahee but even he needed to shirt. It took him 3 years too finally become the single season record holder for yards. I think Scarlett shirts but becomes a beast his following year. I don't see a Duke instant impact but I see a great back 2 years from now.

True but UM is difficult to get into

If Scarlett were to come to Miami, he ain't red-shirting. Take a 2nd look at our depth chart for RB and then get back at me.

The RBs ahead of McGahee made him RS. Scarlett only has Yearby and no one else

I don't think you have any facts to back up what you are stating. Miami accepts 40% and Florida accepts 46% of applicants. They are both ranked 48th best university according to usa today

Hahaa I was hoping no one made that argument. James Jackson, Clinton Portis and Frank Gore was the truth haha. However, in 2002 Willis was battling Geathers and Jackson in the beginning after the Gore injury. It took him time.

This^^^

If you thing a Fr McGahee wouldn't start over Yearby and Gus on this team, you are nuts.

McGahee redshirted b/c we had Portis and Davenport already established as solid backs and all around way better depth and depth management.

On top of that, we are in a different time now where RBs especially try to play as early as possible to be able to get into the league ASAP b/c they by far have the shortest lifespan out of any position and nowadays aren't even valued nearly as much as when McGahee was drafted.

Scarlett has that type of potential for us, and would be a legend here, staying home and repping his home town/city for real!

No I'm going by experience in applying to school back in 2006. UF who also has a higher enrollment was the more demanding of the two. Most students opt to pay less by getting a quality education. Most people don't know it but the hardest school in the state to get admitted into is New College in Sarasota. That being said, it's common knowledge among the academic community to know that UM isn't a Harvard of the south. And UF is some bad school. As I said, most students accepted in UF would be in admitted into UM. The issue is the cost. Why pay more when you can pay less for an education that is on par and depending on the major a better quality?

Put it this way, if Golden didn't redshirt Grey this year with Duke Johnson established and back ups like Yearby(I know he was coming off an injury and small) and Gus, then he **** sure ain't redshirting Jordan Scarlett.

my understanding was cronkrtie wanted to compete but he felt the would not let him compete and switch him to DB once he signed and showed up.

No doubt. I'm not saying we're a community college or anything but the notion that UF is a bad school while UM sits at the pinnacle of some upper echelon academic entity is false. UM is a great school along with many of the state institutions. Many schools are overlooked by fans because of their athletics but I knew people who were denied from FAU but accepted into Bama. The state of Florida has some good schools that have competitive admissions. If this story is true about this young man and his girlfriend. Then he has a very intelligent girlfriend. All of my peers that attended UF had no lower than 4.2 gpa on a 4.0 scale in high school.
