I think Mark is thinking about how some of the players sometimes try to make tackles and plays -- the extra practices will give him the chance to coach that out of them. For instance, I notice Artie Burns gets caught being close to WR when the pass arrives. I am sure Mark would like him to drop off some and stop "free-lancing"

When I read that I immediately thought of a stat I saw that showed our defense played 131 more plays than our offense this year. Our offense averages like 65 plays a game. That means our defense played two full games more than our offense. That should mean everything too, no??

This is one thing Schnellenberger always pointed out as the value of going to a bowl game. You get better as as result (like having a second spring practice, he said) and then you go to more bowl games, and get even better. He called it the "perpetual motion machine."

D'Onofrio makes a good point--now if he could only cure whatever the problem is with our defense, in that extra practice time....

Was cool to watch, beautiful day, and other than the jagoff seniors, errrbody was busting it out there.

I also think Williams will do well. He is not someone like JH.SM who think they need to do it all. Just watch his style, he is a rhythm qb. He goes through his motions and get the ball out quickly. With the OL and weapons he will be surrounded with he could look much better than he actually is. A lot like Dorsey. Probably close in arm strength, smart, tall in the pocket and surrounded by STUDS. I have faith in the kid and hopefully we have some early blowouts again, and that will give the young guys their needed PT.
