Going to be a great study to look back in 3-4 years and see which of these kids getting paid massive amounts from colleges actually end up good. This money changes ppl. When you are paid this kind of money as a kid your priorities get out of whack if you aren’t in love with football. Lots of these kids will not turn out to be anything cause the money changed them.

This is where recruiting character really matters and team culture. The NIL can destroy your roster if you aren’t careful.
You thinking this is the first time kids have ever gotten paid huge sums of money?

Everyone on this board has this guy over Mauigoa and I don’t know why. I want this kid, but I’ll take Mauigoa all day everyday because he seems to be more of a natural football player in addition to his measurable which are really good.
Mauigoa has the higher floor, Samson has the higher ceiling. mauigoa also seemingly would be more versatile to plug and play at 3 or 4 positions off the bat.

He’s got clowns running his show… but the kid is smart. Business focused, wants to help people from his parents village. His senior film isn’t as good as I’d hope. Massive human, incredible untapped potential. I doubt anyone hits his ask upfront…
You got the Link to his senior year film ?

No but this is more than before and the more across all levels of recruiting. You got average *** dudes getting paid. That’s not how it used to be. Used to be the top guys only. Regular dudes on rosters might’ve gotten a discount at the local car dealership on a car and some free meals at restaurants, the game has changed.

All this portaling, NIL etc.. is going to weed out the weak minded. Roster stability is going to be really tough moving forward for all schools. Every kid has their hand out now and think they deserve money. You need strong leaders in the locker room to make it work.

That’s my (uneducated) take as well. Mauigoa being at IMG makes me feel better about being a potential starter next season. Be it at guard or tackle.

Samson would be someone that sits for a year or two. Edit: sit for a year or two if he went to a program with legit OL talent….at Miami though he’d probably be forced to spot start given a random injury or two that happens.

For any nba / nba draft fans I’d compare Samson and Francis to Chet and Paolo. Samson being Chet and Francis being Paolo, who is ready to go from day 1

I can see it but a lot of comps for Mauigoa are for a guy who went top 10 in the draft. The ceiling doesn’t get much higher than that.

This whole NIL era is what might have in my eyes will allow greater competitiveness across the sport. The past 10 years or so has been boring with only 3 or 4 teams taking turns winning it and dominating the sport.

It’s looking like more talent is getting spread because other schools not just us are willing to pay to be competitive which as a college football fan I’m happy about. But if you’re still wanting to hold onto hopes of the old days of stacking talent like the 01 team 3 deep with starters that will just never happen again.

It sounds like Miami is the highest bidder on Samson and Innis, let’s see which kids put the bag first.
I get the impression some of the big dogs - OSU, Bama for example- aren't as willing to do the upfront deposit.... They haven't been as willing to go to the big numbers

If he is coming here for the money only, he can bounce! I want dawgs in this team. Not a bunch of soft mentality individuals. Done with all of this entitlement for these kids. They are a reflection of today's society.
I can understand you're point but if you think Miami after the product they just put out can get HS players or portal players without paying you are living to far in the past.

lol right. no one wants to go to a team that loses yearly and doesn't sound kids to the league anymore. you wouldn't even send your own kid to that. right now we gotta use Mario and the NIL to entice kids and then once we get it going, they'll come bc they see the pro prospects and winning.

That’s what the gator clown reporter said too. Said nobody has matched his asking price but miami has the best offer on the table

Agreed. Seems them Clemson etc..are still selling development and championships over NIL deals.
