Sam Shields

Sam is a stud but he's got to play longer before I can give him full consideration. He's got a ring though.

McNeil is clearly #1

others: P Buch, Duane Starks, Robert Bailey, Antrel if he counts, Kelly Jennings, Brandon Harris

FWIW, here is Woodson's full list of the Top 6 of corners this year (in alphabetical order):

Champ Bailey
Antonio Cromartie
Janoris Jenkins
Patrick Peterson
Richard Sherman
Sam Shields

Champ is one of the greats... that's why i smh when I saw Skip Bayless say Revis is the best corner since Prime Time. I would have him in the top 10.

Richard Sherman is the best cornerback hands down in the league though imo w/ Antonio Cromartie second.

Patrick Peterson is a lil overrated and has been since his time at LSU.

LMFAO at this clueless post.

Revis since being in the league is far and away the best cover corner. His 2009 season was the most dominant for a CB of all time. PFF which rates every player in the game, based on every single snap, has had him number 1 by a landslide every year since 2008 (except last year when he got hurt).

Please do some actual research before u make absurd claims.

I do agree on PP, he's not a great CB. He is consistently rated poorly as a cover CB, but he's a freak on Specials.

PP actually had a good year in coverage this year

Shields was ranked as a Top 100 player by Pro Football Futures or one of those wonky, advanced metrics sites. Guy is a stud. And for the record, I said after his sophomore year he should be a corner in the student paper. Took another year but that is my greatest all time victory.

Good call... Too bad he didn't want to make the move until late in his career... But obviously it wasn't too late because he's doing his thing in the league...

I didnt say Revis sucked i just said he is overrated.... he isnt a playmaker. He is very physical at the line but there aint nothn special about anything else he does imo.

He is nowhere near the kind of game changer dbs like Sanders, Champ, and Woodson were.

Sam Shields one of the top corners in the NFL? Ha? This must be a joke. He's a nice player with some potential but the market spoke this spring. He was given a second round tender by the Packers and no one tried to sign him. Not one team was willing to give up a second round pick to sign him.

I was surprised at hearing and then seeing Shields be described as a poor tackler. Guy certainly isn't soft and was beastly on STs. His ceiling is very high. If I recall, he was a restricted free-agent, and I was surprised that no other teams went after him, though I could be wrong about that.

Janoris Jenkins doesn't surprise me at all. He was the best CB in the draft the year he came out. He was a monster at Florida as well. I've been watching him since HS, and he's remarkably consistent and a play-maker. If he keeps his head on straight, he'll be a top 2-3 CB if he's not already.

Agree on Jenkins, likely would've been a top 10 pick if it weren't for the weed.

Sam will be fighting for his job at GB soon......a ring means nothing going FWD..

Who mentioned Brandon Harris in any discussion at all regarding Corner..the guy played here was OKAY...in the NFL sits nicely on the bench.....

C'mon Brandon Harris wasnt a thorpe candidate for 2 years in a row for no reason.... he did a great job of blanketing a lot of quality receivers and he was very physical in run support. A lot of cane fans want to take everything he did at UM away b/c of one bad game against ND, he actually did a good job covering but he was just helpless against a bigger more athletic receiver.

I dont think he's going to be a bench player for long in the NFL either, last year he showed some flash during the times i saw him on the field.
