Charles Woodson was on NFLN and stumped hard for Sam Shields. He called him one of the best cover corners in the NFL and ranked him ahead of some big name players, including Peanut Tillman. Obviously some of that is love for a former teammate, but he seemed genuinely impressed by Sam's development and talent.

Does Shields have the potential to overtake Ryan McNeil as the best NFL corner this program has ever produced?

He'll have to make another leap (consistency) to overtake Ryan McNeil's body of work.

Seems like a lot of people like the way he has played lately when healthy. With a strong year this coming season he is going to get PAID. Good on him, hope he does his thing.

Yep. Down the stretch he was playing as good as any corner in football. But he needs to stay physical and he needs to stay healthy.

He needs to drastically improve his tackling ability/technique, but in terms of cover skills he's up there with the top corners.

This. I'm a Packers fan, so I watch all of their games. When he's on, he's as good as any cover guy you'll find in the league outside of a healthy Revis. His weaknesses come in inconsistency and run support/tackling.

From the outside looking in, it appeared that his run support really picked up when he came back from injury. Do you think he can sustain it?

All this. Also a Packers fan in WI. He's not the best corner on the team because of the inconsistency & lack of run support. Casey Hayward is, and is better than Tillman.

He was better than previous years, but still has a lot of room for improvement. It doesn't help that the Packers give up a lot of long runs outside forcing him to play against the run more. If their front seven players are better this year, he should be adequate or better when called upon in run support IMO

I think it is a stretch saying Miami produced Sam Shields. Sam went to Miami but he learned his trade in the league. Somebody had is *** wasting away at WR most of his college career.

First time in history I agree with a Crock.

The "defensive genius" didn't know how to use one of the few legit NFL players he had on his squads.

Crazy that Ryan McNeil only made 1 probowl in the league.

Shields is definitely one of the best cover corners and he did improve last year on his tackling.

I'm really hoping Brandon Harris steps up next year bcuz he had every chance to come in and be the starting slot corner for Houston last year and he just looked really bad. Houston fans think he's trash.

DVD will hopefully get a shot in Pittsburgh. He'll definitely play a lot of special teams..

Does anyone know what happened to Bruce Johnson? He's no longer on the giants roster... I know he was hurt for a while but I thought he was on injured reserve...?

NOT LIKE IT'S CONCRETE-N-STEEL.....BUT JUST MORE PROOF DUDES USIN' THEU & PACIN' THEMSELVES THRU TO THE COMBINE > LEAGUE....
