sam brown (not injured)

If we didn't score on that final drive, it would have been Sam Brown's fault. This is the big play to Restrepo. At the top of the screen is Sam Brown. The Cal player circled is who tackled Restrepo. Restrepo tried to cut back inside, setting up a perfect chance for Brown to block the Cal player face on. Instead, Brown went to block the kid on the outside who was backpedaling and had no chance of catching Restrepo.

He’s taking meaningful reps away from Horton
He falls down too easily
And he has dropped a few
He hasn't "dropped a few". I swear he doesn't catch at least 80% of the balls thrown his way whether he's wide open or not. Anyone who catches fewer than 50% of balls thrown their way has no place in the starting lineup imo. Someone needs to pull up his targets vs catches and compare it to the other receivers.

I wonder how bad the younger receivers are that they cant steal some snaps from him? Who cares if he is fast if he doesn't catch the ball? Basically a waste of space out there. Maybe the coaches are thinking if he runs past the DBs, it will open up opportunities for other receivers? If that's his purpose why not throw Ray Ray in there or Washington instead? Makes no sense. It isn't because he's a good blocker, because dude misses blocks all the time. Thankfully he did have a few catches yesterday, but that isn't saying much because that probably doubled or tripled his catches on the season, plus he was still missing most of his targets. Before yesterday I cant remember anything he did besides the one TD and maybe a couple of screen plays where he gained little to no yards.

I'm still rooting for him, but he needs to get his **** together, and while he is put in someone else to take his snaps. I'd rather see trader and george over him at this point and its not even close. Put a jugs machine in his dorm room or something.

Every time I watch this play I get ****ed off. If they don’t limit his snaps they are betting too highly on his boom-or-bust (pause) ability…but I’m not a coach

he's a nice piece, but he's not a second round pick ... hands are no where near consistent enough and to this point his yac is suspect ... but i'll admit, his effort has been there and i think he'll help us

I was screaming when I saw that live. Couldn't believe he didn't make that block.

it is what it is now ... the hype for sam brown was classic lying season
I said Badger > Brown before the season started and got some flack for it. See, there’s this poster here who’s in California who, unlike me, is a Cali native, who was also at one time a UM student - maybe you know him - he loves a good hill to die on. Anyhow, he said no no no to me but I was certain that I judged correctly and you have given me the reassurance I need to carry on the fight ahead.

We should play Jo Jo and Carr more.

Is Brown taking snaps from Horton? Maybe Horton should take snaps from George. Maybe Horton should take snaps from both.

I still believe Brown has an important role to play but I’m probably in the minority.

With that said, Horton has EARNED more reps.

Horton and X are lock in starters

JoJo and Ny Carr need to start taking Browns and Georges reps… maybe not full time but should be 50-50 time share and see who rises in the moment

We eventually have to find someone that can threaten a defense vertically. Don’t think we can give up on him yet. For as good as Horton and Restrepo are they just aren’t striking fear in defenses and something’s off about George.

No he isn’t taking snaps from horton. They just like to say that because he is starting. Believe Horton played more snaps than brown and George vs cal. Horton plays just as many snaps as them on a weekly basis
