Ryan Williams vs Kevin Olsen vs Brad Kaaya

Guy 1 is a senior who knows the system inside and out, has played meaningful minutes and looked capable.

Guy 2 is a talented RS freshman, but thats it. Has never taken a snap in a college game.

Guy 3 is still in high school at the moment.

Not hard to figure out how that scenario will play out.

JohhnyBlaze just gets it. :fistbump:

Sounds good if you believe guy 1 is capable. To be honest, watching him that spring where Morris sat out with an injury, he looked like he had no business at Miami. Now I know guys get better but what do we have to go on besides garbage time against trash teams like Savannah State, USF and FAU? Still not sold.

I think he starts because Golden is a conservative, by the book guy, loyal to a fault. But I would not be surprised if Williams did not make it out if the season as a the starter if Golden has the balls to make the switch if Williams clearly isn't the answer. Next year could be a rough year, IMO.

I highly doubt Kaaya comes in and wins the job.

But to be realistic it's been done before in college football. True freshman have taken plenty veterans jobs. I was just wondering that if fall camp rolls around and Olsen and Williams are struggling IF Kaaya is clearly better than the two would you start him.

My personal thoughts are that Ryan Williams starts Olsen get's '15 and '16, Kaaya and whatever 2015 stud QB we land will be next up. Some of you guys act like a true freshman hasn't shown up in June and take a starting job before at a big time program.

IF Kaaya is that good now I'm asking would you start him? or still RS the kid regardless?

Has he? I would not classify garbage time against the dregs of our ****** schedule as meaningful minutes. I would call two years ago against UNC in the fourth quarter meaningful, and we know how that turned out for him. I'm not saying he isn't capable, but I wouldn't exactly consider him battle tested either.

He certain!y not a seasoned vet, but he's not a total green horn either. The other two are and that tips the scales in RW's favor.

redshirt brad. without question.

Whoever wins the battle between olsen and williams should start.. I would PREFER olsen win it.. so we're not breaking another new QB next year. But if williams earns it, then i'm rolling with him.

This.

If Kaaya is that kind of talent then he better start him. Kaaya would have to be a once in a generation type of talent to do that however. Not impossible by highly improbable. Also have to factor in that if Kaaya starts this season, Olsen will most likely bounce.

True. I agree with that statement.

Whoever earns the job I'll back 100% as I believe the coaches will put the best 22 athletes on the field regardless of position to win football games. Whoever earns the job will have many weapons at their disposal.

Like I said I'm an Olsen fan and would rather our young guys start to get them some experience and preparation for a big 2015 or 2016 when I believe we can truly be "back."

Williams for 1 year, then Kaaya and Olsen battle it out next spring. If you give Olsen the job too early then it's going to be tough taking it away if Kaaya ends up a better player. Anyone who thinks we're starting a true freshman QB, who is not an EE, is nuts. If we can get a 2015 EE QB then it could be a Kaaya/Olsen/[insert name] battle during next spring.

We're in very good shape at QB imo.

Im not sold on ryan williams. I rember watching the guy just last spring game and he wasnt impressive. I think the O might struggle especially vs a good defense. Its more than arm strength he has no velocity on his passes. I expect it to be a lot of 8 and 9 man boxes and press coverage.

Not quite sure what you are saying here but...........

RW's arm is every bit as strong as Ken Dorsey's was.

I'm not saying RW is Ken Dorsey.

I'm just saying that his arm is just as strong as KD's.

Williams arm is a hundred times stronger than Dorsey arm was. Dorsey passes looked like a flying saucer was about to make a crash landing.

To the OP.

I don't think there is much of a competition happening. I fully expect Williams to be the starter come the start of the season. It already seems that he is being marketed as the man. From the interviews i seen early last week. Now maybe something has changed from the last one i seen, but IMO. The senior will get the starting gig, and that will be that.

we have the most conservative program in the nation. lol at anyone thinking they are gonna throw in a young qb over a senior..absolutely zero chance
