Ryan Williams vs Kevin Olsen vs Brad Kaaya

Ryan Williams stuck with us through a tough situation when he could have bailed to another school the like one he came from. Memphis. So since he didn't bolt for another "better situation" like another mid tier CUSA school, I think he has earned the right to play every snap this season regardless of how ****ty he plays and how awesome Olsen or Kayaa look. Its only fair to him, and we are trying to teach life lessons in fairness here at the []_[] now. Why start the best player and miss an opportunity at a life lesson as valuable as this.

Yeah it will have nothing to do with a 5th year Senior being the better QB and earning his plaything time. It will be because Golden has no clue how to be HC. Way to go mope!

I'm telling you, platoon Olsen and Kaaya until the light comes on for one of them.

Gift wrapping the job for Williams is defeatist and an easy way to end up middle of the pack in the coastal, again.

Watching Williams pass is like watching an ultimate frisbee game.

I think he makes more throws than people give him credit for....he hits guys on the run & where they supposed to be...not waiting for them to be open...then picked....

either way we are in the best shape at QB in a decade maybe per depth since the Vinny days...

better question is:

will the next staff in 2015 be able to de-F.A.G. these players (especially on defense) and turn them into aggressive football players. have the defensive guys been ruined for life?

redshirt brad. without question.

Whoever wins the battle between olsen and williams should start.. I would PREFER olsen win it.. so we're not breaking another new QB next year. But if williams earns it, then i'm rolling with him.

Shirt Kaaya
Play Olsen
He goes HAM for two years and wins a ship his second year
Olsen leaves early as the #1 pick
Kaaya starts the dynasty as a RS Sophomore

Memphis is one of the worst D1 football programs around. Wouldn't say that he "stuck with us." Rather be on probation at the U than playing at Memphis. Still no bowl games there.

Keep Olsen on the bench, especially if Coley plans on staying. RS Sophomore, third year in the system with some game experience (assuming he gets mop up duties ala Williams in 2013) vs RS FR Kaaya in 2015. Williams will be fine.

yesterday...williams takes charge, gets his guys lined up..makes throws people on here assume he cant he will start unless injury...

Olsen was better than I expected, made solid throws....
Crow is a workhorse,,,,they use him hard in practice...GREAT BACK UP

Kaaya....100% red shirt

Nothing against Kaaya, but it makes me laugh at all the people who thought Kaaya was just going to be better than every QB on our roster from day one.

Thats just the way it is around here. The guy on the bench is always better than the guy that's already starting or in this case, the guy that is not on campus is better than the guy that is already on campus. It just amazes me that so many fans are just giving up on Baby Jesus cause of (1) he's not starting yet; and/or (2) the boneheaded mistakes made off the field. The kid is 18...

To answer the OP, the best player should start. However, if its close between Olsen and RW, gotta go with Olsen. More than likely, we will not contend for a national title this year. 2015 could be something special. If RW starts this year, we go into 2015 with a brand new QB. If Olsen starts this year, we go into 2015 with an experienced QB.

AND if BK comes in and plays better than both (HIGHLY UNLIKELY for a true freshman), then start BK.

Its not his arm that concerns me. Its when he's under pressure - deer in headlights. Add to the fact that he has no mobility...

My sources tell me that RW is master of all he surveys.

That will tell the tale...to see if he can make reads in real game situations...Our D is not scaring anyone just yet..

It's easy now. No pads. Fast whistles.

Go check his frosh #'s. He did pretty good when the lights were on in real games with a HORRIBLE O-line.

I highly doubt he is a worse player now or is on a less talented offense now than he was at Memphis.

It wouldn't surprise me in the Least if Kaaya ENDED the season as the starter.

Most on this board expect Williams to start. But come fall camp if the competition between Williams and Olsen is close who do you think the coaches should roll with? The senior? Or the freshman that will gain valuable experience by being thrown into the fire?

Maybe a talented true freshman named Brad Kaaya comes in to beat both out and win the job.

If the competition is close and you're coach Golden who would you start and why?

IMO Kaaya should RS , I watched him several times on TV great arm but has lot to learn like looking off DBs. He needs to do what Olsen did and learn the game at this level

Kaaya needs a year to watch and learn so the game will slow down for him just like Olsen did last year

Guy 1 is a senior who knows the system inside and out, has played meaningful minutes and looked capable.

Guy 2 is a talented RS freshman, but thats it. Has never taken a snap in a college game.

Guy 3 is still in high school at the moment.

Not hard to figure out how that scenario will play out.

At least someone knows a thing or two...
