ROSTER # Update

We are a QB away from another shot at winning ACCCG. A better QB will result in a better defense and less chance of injuries depleting our somewhat thin depth at DE and experienced depth at DT.
It all revolves around better QB play than last year. Score more pts than other team and we win.

Agreed, Give one of the young guys a chance and they will be more mature and game ready by the ACCCG. We already know where we are with Rosier, an 8-10 win team that will have to fight through most of the schedule because we allow inferior teams to hang around.

D-end is scarier than I thought. When u look at it on paper, it’s by far the ugliest position

The good news is that D Jax, J Jax and Garvin are studs. And if Patchan is healthy and hovering near 250, that's a good two-deep. McCloud can help out, too. And do not count out Rousseau. I think he's the sleeper in this class. He dominated the LOS in his senior year, made plays everywhere. The talk is he's already above 240, should be above 250 by the Fall. That's still skinny for a kid of his dimensions, but he'll have an impact.

Not optimal, and I hope we get a GT. But we're certainly deep enough to get another crack at Clemson in the ACCCG.

We were all panicky about DT being in trouble but I like the mix there. DE turned out to be the weak spot. Good news is that Bethel can play SDE and we can get creative with packages in passing situations. DJ Johnson bailing really fked us over. He would have been in line for a boatload of reps this year.

Getting him on campus as an EE was enormous. While the level of competition was suspect, his senior year highlight film was unreal. He's a freak and getting him acclimated to the weight-training program and the speed of the game as an EE could be the difference in him having a meaningful role on defense next season. Diaz mentioned he's added 15 pounds and he's excited about his progress.

Most sports do involve scoring more points than the other team to win. Good observation.

Lol, yeah, I guess that was a fairly obvious comment. What I meant to imply was that Rosier was not championship-caliber and probably never will be given his limitations. On the other hand, Perry, Weldon or Williams look like they have all the ingredients to be "the guy". We need one of them to step up and take the starting role.

I think you guys are all right on point.

The DL should be fine as long as 1 or 2 of the incoming freshman can contribute. Depending on who we play, Bethel can slide to SDE. Hopefully we can see a goal line package with something like Willis, Ford, Nesta, Bethel. Then some speed 3rd and long packages with something like Garvin, Willis, Bethel, J Jackson. Diaz said in an interview he expects Rousseau to contribute right away.

CB depth is an issue. Who's going to play nickel behind Bandy? Who's going to start opposite Jackson on the boundary?

Perry needs to run away with the QB job if we're going to make a run at the playoffs.

not too many Armbrister's or Fentress' on that list.

I hate to do it to the kid. Because he's got NFL potential if he is given the chance to master one position. But DJ Dallas needs to be moved to DB.

We need guys with playmaking talent on the field as much as possible. I think he'll end up getting a lot more reps and have a bigger impact there because of it. It allows Frierson to move to his more natural spot at safety also.

That makes sense because they offered 7 guys today/yesterday and signed 2. Five open spots would be 80. Had all 7 signed they’d be at 85.
Yeah including Butler and Atkins we'd be at 82 right now. And we used 25 initial counters (due to transfers) and were going after 3 more - PS2, TC, and Coburn hard. That would put us at 85 exactly.

I expect better special teams play. It can’t be much worse. Can really change the whole def & off. Combined with power five QB play we can be vastly improved.

1. Don't need a grad transfer at corner.

2. 3/5 of our top cb targets in 2018 committed to Miami.
