Rodney Scott decommits

Never understood the interest in a 165 pound kid with 4.9 forty speed.

Thought the same thing---American Heritage Invite Nike Combine March 8, 2016

Rodney Scott.... WR ...17 ...Southridge... 6-0(ht)... 166(wt)... 4.99(40-elect)... 4.52(Short shuttle).... 34.0(PB).... 29.0(vert).... 63.87(SPARQ)

Those Elite numbers will hard to replace. We might have to look at the Olympic teams to get this kind of production

i wonder how this went down. Scott is the first Richt commit to decommit (Warren Thompson doesn't count.)

Did they realize they made an evaluation mistake or that they rushed to accept his commitment? Or did they legit drop dude. He's come to all of Miami's summer camps and there wasn't indication he was being played.

Either way this is a releif. He's skilled as a possession WR but team needs horses on the boundary.

I think it's more of a case of him being a "plan C" player. You know, you verbally offer 8 receivers. There's a few at the top of the list that you'd sign right away. There's a few in the middle that are considered good but they're slightly below the top tier. And there's a few at the bottom who you'll only sign if the **** hits the fan and you can't get any plan A or B kids. If it looks like you're going to sign enough plan A and B kids, you start ignoring the plan C kids and hope they get the message. This kid obviously did.

What I don't get is why they accepted the commitment though. There is always talk about how some verbals aren't comittable.

A verbal commitment means nothing. Even an official offer means nothing. Until he signs a LOI, it's just a dog and pony show.

Some of y'all need to stop acting like pussies. This happens in recruiting. And from the looks of things, we did this as gracefully as possible. This isn't the first time Richt's deftfully cut a kid loose and it won't be the last.

That's cool, than we shouldn't dog Saban or Harbaugh for doing it from now on on here.

This happens in REAL life too!

The teenager in this scenario is showing more class than you.

I had always thought the 4.99 had to be a typo or the kid must have fallen. That's just not fast enough to play at Miami. Wish the kid all the best where see he winds up. Better to move on now while other options are available then get dropped in January with nowhere to go.

It was a mistake. I run a 4.7. Did the testing with team Reebok(softball) and ran a 7.1 in the 60 on the same run. So i know this kid has to playing in Dade.

I guess the 4.99 and 166 were both too hard to swallow! This could also mean Smith is a silent or Hollowman is close to committing?? If true, all efforts should go to flipping Harley....no more valuable time spent on Juedy!

Kevaugh Dingle also ran a 4.9 40 do we still want him?

Different body types. Dingle won't be 18 until 2017 and is already 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds. Scott was built like a slightly taller Mike Harley.

Dingle at worse is a possession bruiser, but just turn the film on and you won't think he's slow. He's legit.

It's why he isn't rated that much higher. Dingle' game is that he is very physical and has great hands. He is a possession guy that over power a CB. That his game, the impressive YPC is a red herring really, that won't be the case in college because of his lack for speed but he will still do damage. Both Scott and Dingle are possession WRs but you take Dingle 10 out of 10 times here.
