Riley Williams Portal

Riley Williams is not a huge loss, I’m not saying Lofton would have passed him up, but I’m sure they would’ve been 1a 1b.
Different roles imo. Also, Lofton plays all over the field. Not many out there can fill his role.
Williams is a big loss at a position of need. He had a few big, athletic plays for us last year and flashed at times I thought. Hope we can get someone to backfill soon.

a few big athletic plays? he had 7 catches all year and one of them was cam throwing the ball to him like hot potato.

Arroyo was getting the TE targets. Main point here is that he was slated to be TE1, he is 6'6 260, and we don't have another TE on the roster with his size, speed, and experience. It's a loss, and now you have to spend energy and resources to find a replacement in portal, that doesn't know our offense as well.

he doesn't have the speed. watch his film. He didnt handle putting on weight well. He wants to be the top receiving TE not a blocker and Lofton will be our top target.

He and Lofton aren't the same type players and wouldn't be asked to do the same thing. Lofton is a move TE, and Riley is a traditional in line TE, who can split or detach also. He does have speed for his size, how fast do you want a HUGE TE to move? Looked plenty fast to me.

Don’t agree he’s not a fluent Te , he’s pretty much a blocker . We need more of a te weapon not a te blocker. We get a te out the portal it needs to be more like arroyo

I respect all my fellow canes opinions because we love the same team, but I just don’t think it’s a huge loss…

Agree but Lofton is going to be special and no LB or DB is going to be able to cover him.

They keep saying he doesn’t have the speed, like he’s 6’6 260. Of course he’s not running a 4.4 but he looked fast enough pulling away from VT. If you’re only giving the kid “pop passes” then he isn’t going to do much. He’ll go somewhere else give 35-40 catches for about 400-450 yards. And like you said, Loftin won’t be used the same way. Riley and Artoyo wasn’t used the same way. We like to use the extra tight end as a blocker, who’s going to have that role?

Lofton is gonna be that dude… won’t check the boxes in your dream TE mold but that dude is just a **** football player

A better brevin Jordan,
This may rub people the wrong way but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him portal next year. Especially if our qb play isn’t up to par. That man didn’t come here to play full back and to block all day. He’s not trying to be a Jon Richie.

They literally have thrown everything from a tunnel screen to a ******* go route to this guy as a freshman. You’re just complaining to complain. He’s a versatile player and yes he’s going to block. He’s a feature of this offense moving forward.

You’ll never hear from him again

Same reason why the LSU WR saw Emory and said I'm in.

I can't believe our idiot fanbase. Emory started 2 games as a true freshman that he shouldn't have and you morons are passing judgment like that's his ceiling.

We have a lot of talented players who have waited their turn. You fool's salivate over any JAG in the portal with experience over the players that gave Mario 2 top 10 class rankings.
This didn't age well after Saturday's performance lol. CJ Daniels is probably looking to reenter the transfer portal
