Riley Williams Portal

Eh, thought it was odd McCormick played so much more than him if he supposedly had so much potential. Thought he gained too much weight too quickly and it slowed him down some.

Guess this means Jackson Carver might actually stick around

2 completely different ā€œstartingā€ roles in our offense. Lofton canā€™t play Williamsā€™ position and Williams canā€™t play Loftonā€™s position.
Clearly this is how Samson sees the field like his frosh year...partly joking.

Not having enough TEs could force Mario's to lean even more into a wide open offense (10 and 0 personnel)...again, partly hoping

Heard about this for a couple weeks, I wanted to ask if it was true.

No need now.

Justice Haynes was not a potential starter, for the second time...

But good job on "many more" and not naming "many more"...
And justice Haynes had the second most carries of Alabama RBs. That would make him a similar player to Mark Fletcher. What a silly hot take

Clear the wax out of your ears man.

Lofton was discussed as an EMERGENCY RB if we went into the season with only 4 RBs and somehow needed to give carries to a 5th RB b/c of injuries.

Same posters who SWEAR to you that Brian Monroe was a starting WR for 10 games...and that they saw it with their own eyes...

Typically Iā€™d agree with you. But my eyes tell me that they were completely negligent and totally incompetent.. What about this 2024 defense would you want out there in 2025 besides Oj ?
I was a just being glib, about the folks who drone on about how the coordinators need carte blanche to hire the position coaches, and how I anticipate if the new DC is given a clean slate that some of those same posters will lament Nicholson and Taylor getting let go because they're good recruiters. I think there are good arguments to clean house based on how bad the defense was and good arguments to keep Nicholson and Taylor on account of how well they recruited.

Personally, I would keep them both because they both have done a fantastic job recruiting, and I think the narrative that our coordinators aren't as successful as they can be, because they aren't allowed to hire whomever they like at each position is mostly bunk. These are adults and professionals; it's their job to make it work. Also, it's not hard to imagine how allowing a coordinator to hire his boys might also be problematic. Like, do we really think that all that was standing between Guidry and success was giving him the chance to hire the LBer and DL coaches in addition to the CB coach? I don't.

only for some teams
We actually have very few players in the portal compared to a majority of P4 teams. We had CJJ, Horton and now Williams. Arkansas had 28 players from last yearā€™s roster enter the portal.

Admittedly I havenā€™t kept track of all the TEā€™s weā€™ve had visit during this portal period but if they had a sense this was going to happen, what TEā€™s have we been in contact with and how many have visited?
Theyā€™ve had a sense for weeks now (since before Wake Forest week) that Riley was 90% gone.

I havenā€™t seen UM bring in one TE or been mentioned for one unless they have had secret visits.

Inexcusable to not have someone lined up and I donā€™t want to hear the ā€œthey have their eyes on TEs on playoff teamsā€ excuse.
