Richt responds to criticism, preps for Duke

It's obvious you are one of the new 30 for 30 UM fans, welcome, and enjoy the journey back to the top. Also, stay out of the drive thru's, that type of food makes you have a that microwave mentality, and be wishy washy. Dont be one of the ones who celebraated the wins over Fsu, V-tech and notre shame last year, along with the 10 game winning streak, than come this year acting as if coach richt is suppose to have an all world offense with the current o-line and True freshmen tightend blocking. Most on here who have no clue about football thought the irvin injury was no big deal cause brevin was here, silly rabbits, tricks are made for kids. All these offensive experts on this board are clueless.

Ill as you the same question genius, how much winning and trophies did schnelly, jimmy, dennis or butch do before becoming the headcoaches at UM, which one or all of them combined have a better record than coach richt before coming here. Also, you can combine your winning percentage with there's to as a headcoach, coach or the games you won on tecmo bowl or playstation with there's, to see how yall stack up to coach richt, please enlighten us. Alot of these so called UM fans are fickle, begging for butch davis, but would've been the same ones trying to run him out of town during the rebuilding process. Do yourself a favor and dont be a drum major for the clueless brigrade, somehow you think we are suppose to be the coastal or acc champs with tyree st. louis along with our all dollartree guards in Jahir jones and hayden mahoney, and a guard playing right tackle in navaughn donaldson. Now scaife, brevin and mallory 3 all True freshmen are suppose to be better blockers than irvin and polendey, ok, maybe you have a point!
Just stfu you wussy. You've probably been average or below all your life, so it's just fine for you to watch a beaten, stubborn and ****** coach continue to do the same bs week after week and blame the players for **** not working. Clearly you have never been involved with winning anything before. Your whole line of thinking reminds me of someone whose parents believed in "participation trophies" and knew you would never amount to anything.

My fault for wasting my time responding to this stupidity. I won't bother your loser *** again.

He’s not in a tizzy because he’s showing us he doesn’t care enough about winning. He’s decided to go down with the “we’re geniuses, but the players can’t execute our genius plans” ship instead of fixing (I don’t think he’s capable of fixing it in reality) what is the obvious problem to the rest of the world.
He’s so sure his plays are great, he’ll just have to import some new players to run them. As good a corch as he is reputed to be, you’d think there would be a caravan of kids tryin like all heck to get to coral gables to run this guy’s beautiful play for him.

Here’s the problem, plays aren’t working and aren’t being executed because the opposing defense knows what we are going to do and the simplicity of the offense is rearing it’s ugly head. They have a bead on what we are going to do every single play, do some misdirection so they could have unclog some of that up the middle every time we do the SAME zone read play. Putting motions in our offense will create better opportunities for a players.

Richt is also trying to run a spread but predetermine reads before the plays which is why we struggle so **** bad throwing the ball. What spread offense you know operates like that? Richt is trying to run something he don’t know how to run and it’s holding us back
It’s the same ******* narrative as Doritos Defense.

Same excuses. Same attitude. Richt is so stuck in his ways he thinks that despite a couple of years of evidence, we fans are just morons that don’t understand football

This is the same mistake Golden made. If you aren’t very good at some aspects of your job, fans will give you a pass if you take responsibility.

When you start telling fans they are too dumb to understand, that’s when you see banners and ****.

Truth hurts but yeah I agree With all of this

After so much experience hiring losers and seeing the same warning signs repeatedly over the last 20 years (mainly the tried and true death knell of “the players aren’t executing”), hopefully, DiMare and his crew recognize and correct the mistake quicker.

This is a carbon copy of Folden’s defense but on the other side of the ball. If those in charge can’t recognize this, and, at the very least, force a complete overhaul of the offense after the season, then they should be exposed via banners.

Man, this is classic Richt. It was always execution that was to blame when he was at Georgia.

When he hired Jeremy Pruitt as DC, one of Pruitt's biggest themes for improvement was simplifying the defense and working on fundamentals. He had a quote that Richt should have taken to heart: "If we can't execute it, I'm not going to call it."

At some point, you have to call the plays your players can execute. If they can't execute any of them, then that falls on you, too; because what the **** are you doing in practice?

I did not realize football was an advanced concept requiring years of study and cortical thinking. Oh please, wise clerics, divine the uninterpretable for us unwashed peasants.

These guys (and every CFB coach) are glorified PE coaches. Do better. We are being hardasses on you like you are on our kids.

“If everyone executes perfectly the plays have a chance of success.”

Holy moly.

That really makes me unhappy.

I’ve seen offenses where the linemen are blocking each other and getting pancaked, backs aren’t sure if they are blocking or receiving, QBs only have one progression....and somehow they still score points

The **** outta here with this execution ****. You think all these high powered offenses are just executing at such an extraordinary level that we somehow can’t achieve??

Good ol Randy used to trot out that "every player needs to execute their job for us to win" excuse all the time - it's another variant of "every player needs to execute perfectly" kind of mealy mouthed logic that corches usually espouse.

This ******* is so lame, and i didnt think you could get any lamer than fat albert. These excuses bought him time at gawga i guess but that **** wont fly here, especially after fat Al. Fan base just needs to keep turning the heat up till he cant take it anymore, dude has a loser mentality

Even if it were true, that execution truly is the problem, well isn’t that the ultimate indictment of a coach anyway?

So Richt, you either can’t call plays or you can’t coach your kids. Which is it? Both?

“I respond to it in that there’s nothing wrong with the plays being called,” Richt said. “What’s wrong is we haven’t executed well enough. If anyone saw what we’re doing, how we’re doing it, if the know football they know we have to do a better job of executing what we call… The plays have a chance for success if everyone does what they need to do.”

Will be fired in 2 years.

Hegemon, I’m not waiting another 2 years of this ****show. He either does what is necessary this offseason (as soon as the bowl game is over), or he’s gone. Those should be his only options, period.

We’ve got a lame duck coach man. We aren’t going anywhere with him. He’s lucky he had some balls bounce our way last year. That interview is a complete joke. Talk about zero self awareness. Dude needs to retire and be a substitute teacher

Exactly. Either he's not teaching his guys the correct way to run/execute the plays on a consistent basis, he's not calling plays that his players can execute on a consistent basis, or he's not recruiting the right players who are capable of executing his plays on a consistent basis. No matter what, the execution argument doesn't excuse the coaches in any way.

The thing is, he's not wrong in saying that our guys aren't executing well enough. When @HurricaneVision does his in depth breakdowns, or @Roman Marciante breaks down the QB play, we see clearly that on many plays, our guys are making mistakes that often cause certain plays to fail that would have otherwise been successful. There is no question that certain of the failures are the result of certain players not executing plays correctly.

However, when us fans watch the game, and when these breakdowns are done, we also can clearly see that too many plays are destined to fail because sometimes Richt is expecting certain guys to execute beyond what they are capable, or sometimes plays are dead on arrival because defenses are set up to stop a particular play/scheme because they know our tendencies, or sometimes plays are set up to work only if, as Richt admitted the last few days, all 11 guys have to execute perfectly for it to work, and we have 11 college players and it's unrealistic to expect 11 guys to execute perfectly play after play consistently enough to be a consistent offense.

The bottom line is that coaching is always about putting your players in the best position for them to succeed, and adjusting what you do to make that happen. Right now, and honestly, for the time we've been successful as a program, we've been a team that on both sides of the ball, we make explosive plays that sometimes offset our play-to-play inconsistency. We have guys like Jeff Thomas, Homer, Dallas, etc., that have the ability to break off a big gain, when given the chance, even if our offense isn't always consistent. But, right now, we're not giving guys like that enough of an opportunity to do so, and based on what Richt said at halftime of BC and this week, it's almost as if by design. There is no doubt we'd be better on offense if our players executed better, but that clearly doesn't mean that we'd also be better on offense if Richt's entire offense didn't rely on perfect execution for success.

100% this. We watch Rosier throw screen passes in the dirt from practice videos all the time, yet he still plays. We see our oline getting no push even against Savannah St. yet we run up the middle a dozen plus times a game. We see the lack of development, but to top it off we see this Golden/Dnofrio like rigidness to keep the same gameplay and scheme no matter what our players can and cant do. We don't develop them correctly and then force them to play in an offensive "system" if it is even a system that highlights all the things we don't do well. Richt Jr cant teach a QB how to even take a snap, our oline stands straight up and leans, our TE are undersized and freshmen yet we try to run a middle run game and long developing passing plays that rely on extended blocking or mauling up front. Its ugly every way you turn.

I have no problem that we supposedly have 8 plays. My problem is the coaching behind those 8 plays. Good teams score the points they do because they execute at a high level. So what the **** are we coaching our players to do that they can't execute?

When Chip Kelly was at Oregon he admitted to only running a handful of plays out of different formations. But the combination of their pace, play-calling and execution of those plays is what set their offense apart.

I read the article from SI that somebody recently posted about Kendall Briles at Houston. They don't even have a playbook. They just have a combination of fantastic play calling in-game as well as great execution. Richt has no feel for the game as a play caller and that's very obvious to us fans, as well as opposing defenses by the way our offense has been shut down these last two seasons.

So maybe execution is off, but that is 100% on the coaches; Richt, Jon, Brown, Seareles, Dugans and Hartley. Something needs to change on the offensive staff because there's no reason Houston with a former WR playing QB now should have a much more dynamic offense than we do. There's no reason with the skill players we have that we shouldn't be averaging 40 points a game. Just looking at the teams who score more than we do a game and you can't tell me that all of them have better OLs, and skill players than us.

“If everyone executes perfectly the plays have a chance of success.”

Holy moly.

Where did this quote come from? I don't see the word "perfectly" in the OP. Is this what is referenced?

"The plays have a chance for success if everyone does what they need to do.”

Meanwhile, "at roughly halfway through the season, FIU's Butch Davis is a strong candidate to win honors as Conference USA Coach of the Year."

He's WAY ahead of the program rebuild schedule.

Way ahead.
