Richt finishing out this class

We have 76 scholarship players currently on the roster and 11 seniors. At this moment we have 20 scholarships to give. If you think 10 non seniors will be eliminated from the roster, name them. I doubt that we go over 25. Coach Richt has said on two occasions that he is looking at a class size of 20-22.

Juwon Young still listed, so we are at 75. Subtract 12 seniors and that brings us to 63. That brings us into the 20-22 you mentioned.

Then there is BK. Hope he stays, hope it is best for him! Chad Thomas, if Im him I bolt if I can. So maybe 2 more maybe not.

If we get some player development like no other on the OL we might solve some problems sooner. Otherwise, don't you think at least 1-2 transfer?

Will Sam Bruce make a full recovery? I don't think it is a slam dunk that he comes back the same or better, no pun intended.

I know Patchan is coming back, but he has been injury prone. So even if he comes back will he be a DE? Sure would be nice if he could handle the weight to beef up and play OT while taking a redshirt. It would be easier on his body and could help us out!

There are no easy answers I do not think. Opportunity Cost . . .

Every time some jokel screams about scholarship limits i just lulz. We could EASILY make room for 25-30 kids if Richt wanted to. Every year we get kids who leave early for the NFL, who transfer, who get medical hardships, who are "asked" to graduate, etc. There are like 3 kids off the OL alone that could be told to GTFO if we needed their schollies.

Here's a list of potential attrition that is realistic:

1-2 QB - Kaaya blowing up and leaving early, one of the backups transferring for more playing time
1-2 RB - Choc Gray could easily leave the program, one of the three rotating RBs might lose out to Homer and transfer
1-3 OL - Jahair, Loftus, Mahoney, Knighton all could be asked to leave
1 TE - Njoku blows up and leaves for the NFL
1 WR - Langham finds himself behind the FR on the depth chart
1 DE - Patchan takes a medical hardship
1 LB - Terry McCray
1 CB- Henley

And this isnt even including the attrition that comes from the likes of stupidity by our players (Grace, AQM). Now that i think of it, how can anyone continue to scream about schollie limits after the torrent of attrition we've experienced over the past year.

Chad Thomas would have to have a stunning season to sensibly consider the NFL. He's done nothing for two years. He's now in a system that suits him - rack up two years of impressive highlights and pick up that 1st / 2nd round contract.

Great post! We can easily take 30. There is no point keeping dead weight on the team. Not good for us or the players. If we win big this year, dont expect Richt to turn down big time talent for players that arent going to see the field.

Im still not anointing Chad Thomas. The meat of the schedule is coming up. If he continues to play the way he has, he will move up draft boards. If he tests out well, obviously, he will continue to climb. It is tough to see things through a scout's eyes since Im not a scout. But my guess is 2-3 rounder is as high as he could climb this year. Imo you leave if you are in that range.
