Richt certainly not let history repeat itself a third time

Funny thing, wasn't Richt like the first guy to train up a black super athletic qb in ward? Those types were unheard of when ward was doing his thing. Interesting he went away from it. Also, he was at the confederate Georgia!!! Let's see what he puts out going forward.

He was not the first, but CMR was there early. USC had Randall Cunningham in the early 80s and Syracuse had Don McPherson and Marvin Graves in the mid 80s and early 90s.
I can't think of his name but didn't Tennessee have a black running qb in the 70s?

Richt can care less if the QB is black, white, or Donald Trump orange. Sitkowski is Richt's only QB target for #storm18 and the last I checked, Sit looks more like a product of the Brady bunch, not the Wayans brothers! He just want the QB to be mobile!

I'd say he just wants the QB to be MORE mobile than Kaaya. I think we need to pump the brakes on the narrative that we're all-in on a dual-threat centric offense and that Rick has already penciled in Perry as the starter.

West Virginia had Major Harris at the end of the 80s and ND had Tony Rice at the same time.

Major Harris was nice. Charles Thompson and Jamelle Holieway at Oklahoma. Darian Hagan at Colorado. Mickey Joseph, Turner Gill and Steve Taylor at Nebraska.

Don't forget Kerry Baker and McMillan. There was another Baker but I can't remember his first name.

Not once in my post did I mention "dual threat", "Perry", or anything about a "starter!" Therefore, I pose the question, what exactly should I pump the brakes on, my friend?

Joking aside, I remember Freddie Solomon playing QB at the U of Tampa and giving us one the the most embarrassing losses in school history

Coach Richt did recruit 5 star QB DJ Shockley from the same city as Cam Newton, won the SEC championship in 2005 with him starting. A lot of ppl thought it was "politics" involved as to why he ended up going with David Greene to start most of that era. They were a good team but couldve been championship contenders if DJ Shockley was the starter for more than 1 year. Probably the same reason Coach Richt didnt recruit another "dual threat" QB like Cam Newton and Deshaun Watson, it is Athens, Ga.

Wasn't a critique of your post. Just the first sentence was referring to what you had said. The remainder was just a response to a larger narrative that a lot of us are already seemingly going all in on.

Idk why but something just came to my mind after reading this...Since the 2009 season, starting with 2010/Cam Newton...the National Championship teams outside of Bama (so only 4 I guess) had a black starting QB (all of which were mobile).

He offered Newton as a TE? LOLOLOLOL

Ridiculous

Matthew Stafford was projected to start at the time for Georgia, and Newton was unsure if he wanted to sit behind Stafford. It was pretty much a "get on my team and I'll find a spot for you" position offer. But I don't see how this is so different than NFL scouts pestering Tim Tebow to play TE because he is trash at QB.

Okay. Thanks for clarifying.

So he didn't want to sit behind Stafford but chose to sit behind Tebow instead?

Doesn't make sense...

I was about to post Freddie. That loss was so painful. Kid was impossible to herd. Fins drafted him as WR but his Super Bowls rings came with 49ers I think. Then there was Ronnie Lott too. He made it to Congress as a Republican I believe.
