Said this a week ago and will continue to say it - he needs to be the target. 22-4 and 14-1(projected 8/9 seed) in a tough Mountain West conference (Utah State, San Diego St., Colorado St., Boise). Matt Norlander from CBS believes he will be in the mix at Miami and FSU but it sounds like the latter may be targeting Luke Loucks or Bucky McMillan.

And when his father retires, we can bring him on as an analyst for the team i have visions of rick pitino and seth greenberg, discussing business on the sunlit balcony at miami beach just like the scene in the Godfather movies except of course that was in havana

Richard Pitino is interesting.
You have to be somewhat impressed in what he has done at New Mexico this season.
But in fairness, Miami is closer to Minnesota and his time at Minnesota wasn't that impressive.
Could it be better the second time around at a Power 5 school? Maybe!
Or is he just a good Non-Power 5 coach? Possibly.

If you want a guy who will win 20+ games along with making the NCAA tournament EVERY YEAR then he is probably not your guy.

At some point, you are what you are!
I mean that in the nicest way as possible!

not only coached at FIU, but Pitino's had a compound on Indian Creek island for a long time. Dad sold it recently, but family still are members at the country club. They have an additional son (Mike) that is still in the South Florida area. This was a long time ago - but Pitino SR was in the mix for the Miami job way back in 2000 before saying no. I have no doubt they value it.

Really? Minnesota is one of the worst jobs in the Big 10 and he won 20+ games 3 out of the 8 years he was there.

How has Minnesota fared since he left? Now compare where New Mexico was the year before Pitino came to where they are now - three straight 20+ win seasons after inheriting a 6 win team.

You make some idiotic declarations but this is out there even for you.

Your rant proves my point.
Your belief is that what he is doing at New Mexico will carry over to Miami while I stated that his performance at Minnesota is a better indication of what he will do at the Power 5 level.
As you mentioned about Richard, three 20 win seasons in 8 years at the Power 5 level.
In basketball, Minnesota is not that far from Miami. Honestly, they are in an easier conference when he was coaching.
That is probably a better indication of what he will be at Miami.
Richard has been a head coach for 13 years at 3 different schools and he has been to the NCAA tournament 3 times with 1 win.
If that is what you want at Miami then Richard Pitino is your guy. Congratulations, you have found your coach.

Personally, I want a head coach who is going to win 20+ games and make the NCAA tournament every year with a trip to the Sweet 16 every other year.
I want to see the program go to the next level and that is the standard I am looking for.

Can you post Minnesota's record the 8 years before him, and 8 years after him? Just curious

I've referenced Rich numerous times. Solid coach, could do way worse than him.

Minnesota fans were disenchanted as **** with him and were excited once they got rid of him.

LOL, how's that working for them? Minnesota fans have zero to be excited about. They lost on the deal.
Rich's replacement is 6-9 in conference, 14-12 overall....Meanwhile, in New Mexico... Rich is 14-1 in conference, 21-4 overall.

Rich has NM on the cusp of being a top 25 team (117 votes). According to Palm, Rich has NM projected to be an 8 seed

I guess it’s working out pretty good for them.

They wanted him gone. I’m pretty sure he is gone.
