Ricardo Williams??

As a previous poster mentioned, his newly-added weight isn't exactly good weight. Butch loved to recruit guys based on frame - broad shoulders, long arms. But I'm not sure Ricardo has the genetics to add sufficient good weight to be an every down player here. Hope I'm wrong. God knows I'm no Butch Davis.

Why at Miami do we bury recruits after a redshirt year? I thought the idea was to redshirt most frosh to get their bodies up to college level.

Butch Davis recruited him. End of story.

Look like hes been working hard in the off season...end of story..dude lookin like he 5 months pregnant..lol he will never play here

I think he resembled Lynden Trail talented but too small for DE which is why Shannon didnt recruit him... The kid looked like a wideout in the spring game... Yea Butch recruited but oos hc can take a chance a chance on a recruit to build relations or keep them. Butch took Kevin Bryant the massive olineman from Hallandale who transferred to Boyd Anderson high. The kid didnt last 2years at UNC. So Butch is not without fault.

Why are we expecting a former 200-lb freshman, now RSFreshman to contribute so soon?

He's way behind...he's still skinny, even if he's got the gut...if he sticks around, I wouldn't expect to see a contribution until junior year at the earliest.

He'll get there. Let him develop and grow into the position. Some take time to break out and he is one of them.

why not let the coaches actually have time to develop guys? wasn't that a major complaint about the last coaching staff that they couldn't develop guys and is supposed to be one of the areas the new staff is better at? its been 1 year. let them have time. most guys need 2 or 3 years to be physically ready to produce at a winning level - especially the big guys.

He was 220 in high school..IJS mane that gut is ridiculous...IF he was working out and eating right and doing what he was suppose to do we would not be seeing that brah. That picture doesnt put his work ethic in question to you?

It's easy to gain weight faster than you can build muscle. This is almost certainly the first time he has tried to gain weight this fast. Give the kd the benefit of the doubt for now. It's easy to get it wrong the first time. It looks to me like he might get it right by the time he is a JR, and that's OK. He had a long way to go. The kid came in as a string bean.

The gut is not that big of deal. Can he play? Kenny Holmes didn't have great body. Dwayne Hendricks is bout to make GMen
If he's not on depth chart at all I wonder if he's in the doghouse for things not football

The kid was like 190 coming out, just like Trail... He never really had to cover anyone in hs either... What position is he expected to play here? If linebacker he's learning a new position and if he is still at end he's way too small to play... You can look at that pic and tell he isnt 250... He looked like a wideout in the spring game... It takes kids like him a while to become contributors at a major d1 school because of the physical development... I'm sure he'll be alright but I hope no one was expecting him to be a contributor in year 1 or 2... He most likely we'll see the field in his 3rd or 4th year...

Sure, but that doesn't mean Butch thought he was a starter day one and would be a 4 time AA. Every highly recruited guy in HS, regardless of # of stars, isn't automatically going to be on the 2 deep when they are a frosh or redshirt frosh. Many good FB players don't contibute much until they are Jrs and Srs.

There are 83 scholarship players and a few preferred walkons on this team. They all can't be on the 2 deep. They get graded every day. There are at least 4 DEs who are grading out higher than Williams. If you think Williams is a talent, isn't it a good thing that there are at least 4 guys who are better?
