Rhett you could have won National Championships

I think Lashlee was leaving no matter what. SMU is one of the top G5 jobs in the country, they're a solid program. He can use 3 or so years of HC experience there to springboard himself into a P5 HC job down the road.

He wasn't a flawless OC by any means, but we will miss him.

Pl

please read my last post you guys are a little slow I was insinuating we would have kept Lashlee !!!!!!!!
We understand your post & know what you were insinuating. But if you're Lashlee you're not going to turn down a head coaching job for more $ while on the other hand you're looking at your current roll evaporating with no certainty that you'd be retained.

What I meant and you did not get the thread title is without saying it I was saying Mario would have hired him not that he left to be a HC. Guess next time I WILL MAKE THE THREAD SIMPLE. lol

Dude we get your point, I understood this from the beginning. Yes perhaps he would have kept him on staff. I'm just saying if you're Lashlee who didnt KNOW Mario was going to come, there was a lot of uncertainty around his job and had an offer for something better & more secure, so you can't blame him for taking it.

why is this thread still going? man took a head coaching job. plus I doubt he gets the OC gig under Mario. guys usually clean house when they get hired.

1. Who knows if Mario would've retained him—especially if Joe Brady's name it being thrown out there?

2. Lashlee is an SMU guy and just took the head coaching gig there, which he probably wants more than chasing rings as an offensive coordinator.

Look lashlee was hot and developed TVD how smug are some people here that you don’t get that. He came a long way and changed his running philosophy. Sure he goes to SMU obviously but had he stayed the chance of him getting all the rewards are just a few years if not less pure greedy thinking on my part.
You really think he developed TVD?
If so, why was he buried behind
Purely one mans opinion and a biased one at that. Your assumptions have no logical, historical or factual data. You simply are in denial and cannot reconcile the fact that Lashlee completely changed up his philosophy in midstream. That is the ultimate sign of growth.
Really some of you live in your own alternative universe and it’s a bad look.
And you my fellow Cane fan, are denying the fact that even though he completely changed up his philosophy mid season, he still couldn't figure out how to run the ball. Especially in short yardage situations. What was so alarming to me is that he wasn't even close to figuring it out either. Talk about a bad look. We're talking football here dude. These are shared opinions from fellow Cane fans on a college football message board. Some of ya'll need to act a lil more like the Fonz and chill the *** out and try being cool to one another.

Cannot fault Rhett for making that move. Not at all. Imagine if Mario had turned us down and he was stuck coaching under Manny for another season after turning down a HC job.

Who says Mario cristobal would of kept lashlee ?? he absolutely made the right decision, he is running his own program and making more money at a school and area he know all about and if he do good at any he will be a head coach at a big time school in no time , this thread is stupid lol

When Miami hired Lashlee and FSU hired Dillingham, I was told neither would be around very long as they both are using their jobs as stepping stones to become a HC. Obviously, it has worked out for one of them, the other should be fired!

I've met Coach Lashlee a quite a few times. He's just a really good person! Someone you'd like to have mentor your child. He's very organized. Miami's pregame warmup with his QB's and honestly the whole offense was much more structured than any other school we've seen. Lashlee has shown he can develop QB's and in today's world there not many proven guys out there. Alot of these college QB coaches have never played the position!

From a recruiting perspective, he does a good job connecting with the whole family. At Paradise Camp, he spent 15-20 minutes talking to my 9 year old son! He also doesn't come off as full of crap or like a used car salesman like alot of the coaches out there!

Good luck to him and hopefully we'll be able to upgrade at that spot!
