My father in law is a millionaire, you’d be crazy to think he would turn down 500 K. He would work hard for that money.
lmao this bullsh*T. Surtain out there chasin a bag huh.....he out here broke huh.... Two years ago he sold oneof his house for 4+ million dollars..and bought another in Plantation.
I don't know how long he wants to coach, at the high school level, or above. Assuming he wants to try the next level, why in the heck would anyone turn down a coaching job under Saban? It's only natural his son would be on board as well. If it was Valdosta State or something, his son wouldn't follow him there. Bama though, come on.
Those who would disagree are straight up lying to themselves.
If true, watch Bama get every AH kid they want now lol
I’m not even mad if true; I’ll be more mad that Richt and Miami didn’t take this same approach as I’m sure the Surtains would’ve much rather stayed in So Fla. If u ain’t playing the game, then stop playing.

Honestly, he'd probably value that actual job opportunity more than the paycheck.

If True; how is this not a NCAA recruiting violation? If we see Surtain Sr as an “assistant” DB coach for Bama, then F recruiting. No way u could win. Just topple the NCAA already.
That seems like a lot of money to be an assistant DB coach. Do our position coaches make that much money? How about Bama's position coaches?
University President Stuart Bell said Alabama’s success in football under Saban has helped the school overall.
“It is truly remarkable when you look at what Coach Saban has accomplished here over the last decade and how the success of the football program has raised the overall profile of our institution,” Bell said. “Those accomplishments are not just on the field, as he has also done an outstanding job emphasizing academics and character development with our student-athletes.”
Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi got the biggest raise among the other assistants, a $400,000 pay increase to $950,000.
The new deals for the rest of Saban’s assistants, with two-year deals except where noted:
— New co-offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, an analyst last season, will make $1.2 million over the next two years.
— Joe Pannunzio, tight ends/special teams, $375,000.
— Brent Key, offensive line, goes from $350,000 to $400,000.
— Burton Burns, running backs coach, gets a $15,000 raise to $490,000.
— Derrick Ansley, defensive backs, will make $405,000, up from $395,000.
— Karl Dunbar, defensive line, will make $275,000 this year and $575,000 in 2018.
— Scott Cochran, strength and conditioning, will make $535,000 annually under his three-year deal, a $10,000 raise.

I don't think it's about the money tho. I think it's about the growth and wanting to continue to coach his son. It's been widely reported how close Surtain Jr is with his family and this would make sense because his family would essentially move to tuscaloosa with him hence why he took his entire family on his Bama OV. I think the Surtains are very smart and they understood they had a lot of leverage in this recruitment. This would also make sense to why Campbell claimed the top two choices were Bama and Uga because Bama would have had his most recent coach.
Have y'all thought about how Bama could lose there Defensive coordinator and there DB coach who had the in with Surtain Jr and TC and still land one of em? Had to be more to the table that made them so comfortable to continue to consider Bama so highly.
Again, idk if this is true but it did make me raise an eye brow. I'm just saying if it turns out to be true....You gotta give the 247 poster his credit.
