Petrino must be nutting on himself thinking about his offense facing Dono's D in the first game. Remember when opponent's would fear our defense, those were the days.

Petrino vs Dorito will set the season up 1 way or another...

In fairness to Mark, they really did need to start from scratch after 2011. Even last year, many of the guys we were depending on were in their first or second year. Combine that with average upperclassmen and you got yourself a **** stew.

Fair enough, ROK, let's for a moment say Golden started bad.

In the normal progression of football everywhere else, you either get better over time, or you get worse over time. So we go to the start - the Maryland game, and then we go to the most recent game - the UL game. Three years in between. That's a fair period of time to measure progress.

We suck just as bad as we did three years ago, we still have no gameday adjustments, and we still have a terrible defense with zero gameday adjustments.

But between now and this time next year - we're supposed to completely turn it around?

I'm not buying. Someone's going to have to show me.

I agree with you, but at the same time you need to adjust your scheme to meet your players. Golden and Co. motto was think players then plays. I don't feel that has happened yet.

Agreed. Everything about the talent on this defense screams 4-3 with some cover 3, 2, 1. The **** they run sucks. Period.

I agree that this a 4-3 personnel wise. Honestly the talent we have right now would probably be a top 15 defense in Corch Shannon's 4-3. Can't believe I just typed that.

This is faux progression and has been detailed ad nauseum. Schedule has gotten weak. End of story. Lets beat some good teams.

Yeah, after we got the dog siht beat out of us, Golden was twisting and grimacing, and with a relatively straight face, said our defense was trending up.

So 6-6, 7-5, 9-4 doesn't mean diddly squat.

Did you not see us play UL?

Did you not see us get whipped like dogs?

Sorry, no matter how you try to spin it, 6,7,9 is progress. 2012 team doesn't beat UNC on the road in a Thursday night game. They don't beat UF either. That's progress.
OK, so they lost to down the stretch to solid teams without our key offensive players like Duke and Dorsett. **** happens.. Especially when you have roster issues that couldn't absorb the hit of losing players by not being able to replace them. This year he will. If Duke gets hurt, we got players to step in and soften the blow. Ditto with losing any WR. Depth is not as big a concern as it was the past 3 seasons.
Obviously QB is still a concern.
And I'm not really sweating the UL game.. LIke mentioned above, we were out our best offensive players. Plus Golden used it to get young players who hadn't really seen much game time prior to the bowl game some needed experience. WHile UL kept their 2 deep in basically the whole game. Golden was thinking building for the future while you mopers still dwelling in the past.

"Mark should be as mad as anybody because, imagine coming to the University of Miami and having to play a bunch of kids? . . . Imagine being saddled with that? He's the one who should be mad . . . and he is mad, and he's gonna fight. Everybody wants this change and that change. Mark's not a quitter. None of us are."

A full grasp of reality? Golden ain't got it.

How refreshing.

So basically by your standard SOS doesn't matter and we might as well just start scheduling all non conf games like FIU, mid tenn st, FAU etc with no big games. Forget ND, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc. **** we might as well go back to the being independent so we can schedule more scrubs, because 12-0 is all that matters right? **** lets just call ourselves Florida and run from any real challenge. Then we can brag about how we trended upward and ignore the fact that we can't beat a good team.

answer the question does the 2012 team beat UF and UNC on the road?
Likewise does the 2013 team to 2012 UVA?
