Recruiting?

The fact that there was no "The Bank" or even "ATM" post BBQ is disturbing to me for obvious reasons. I truly hope I'm just being reactionary and that there is some great news. Hope I'm wrong.

I do not think you are wrong, unfortunately.

UM's big end of summer recruiting event was Saturday. Since then the Herald put out a Sunday hit-piece on Ruiz, Franklin visited Auburn the Monday following our event, the only public commitment has been an unranked center we flipped from Harvard, today we're seeing interest picking up with a 3* CB, and our insiders have either been quiet or reserved in their expectations for the final ranking of this class.

For the time being, there is no joy in Mudville.

I hope you are wrong too, but it seems to match up with the news "supposedly" coming from some of the recruits there. I choose to believe the staff didn't only focus on Franklin and the 2025 guys, but the longer it goes with no news and other teams buzzing about kids who were at the BBQ it is hard to say they didn't.

Good poem. Hopefully Mario isn't Casey.

While it's true Mario has flipped people late in the past (Cyrus Moss, Citizen, Bain), I think it's crazy to expect the number to be more than 2-3. So I agree that if we go into the season in the 20+ spot, it will be extremely unlikely we'll get to Top 10 regardless of record. I'm a Mario homer, and I don't get ruffled by the hype/crash cycles on the boards. But this is crunch period. We need some momentum soon.

p.s., Hope he pulls a rabbit out of his hat and Simmons shocks the world by saying he's a Cane. Momma loves JT. Can we get a recruiting win from Momma for once?

If we put out a good product win 8+ games while being competitive in all games & the young bucks look good we will be a hot commodity. Hype train will be chugging along. Need to win

The bipolar swing to "we suck again" is happening. Once we have most posters on that fence, another whale will commit to get everyone back to the "we are awesome" fence.

Definitely some truth to this.

One thing that should be considered in all this, however, is that secure fans don't act this way. My point is we are far from a secure fan base.

This reality manifests itself in the range of perspectives shared about our program. There are so many unknowns about our team as a whole.

Ultimately, what will matter most are Ws and Ls.

No spin changes that, not for me at least.

We got about a month to go, then it's live bullets. A lot will be predicated on our performance, or lack thereof, on the field. Mario will own that, as that is what he gets paid to do. Hoping for the best...

Landing a whale would get me to "good," but that's it. There are so many pieces that we've got to improve right now (recruiting, winning games, becoming more attractive during realignment), then I'm not overly celebrating anything.

It's not so much "winning" as it is showing signs of life. There's a handful of elite recruits who like Miami but need to see this ship is headed in the right direction before singing here. If Miami has a decent 8-9 win season and is generally competitive, it will alleviate a lot of the concerns that some folks have about the program and Mario.
We especially can’t embarrass ourselves vs A&M, FSU and Clemson.

Even the biggest sunshine pumper can't spin this. @DMoney has no more hope left to sell us. This cycle has not been kind to us
