Recruiting Top 3’s

I will say this, apply the golden rule here, if Nickel was an FSU commit, where would you rank him? The real answer usually lies somewhere in the middle.
I think he's a lower 4 star, a 91 or 92 type rank. It's true he doesn't wow you athletically but he's 6-6"1 range at a decent weight with very good accuracy being very productive in a high classification of Georgia football. I can't see how that doesn't qualify as a consensus four star just because he isn't 6'5" or showing Michael Vickesque running ability.

Well he is a composite 4 star.

Ivins is a typical nerd who gets aroused by measurables and doesn't give two ***** about play on the field.
I think you and @jmcanes22 are absolutely correct about Nickel. I don’t think he has the camp measureables that seem to overwhelm rankings, especially for QB’s. My problem wit this is that while height, speed and arm strength are obviously important, what camp settings cannot measure is mental processing speed/decision making, which I believe is the single greatest differentiator between QBs. There are plenty of tall, strong armed QBs who take too long to diagnose a play and end up making bad decisions.

I have seen Nickel play twice, once in person against a good team, and once on TV for the state championship game.I am not a QB expert like some people on CIS. But I will say I saw good decision after good decision, whether throwing or running. I saw passes delivered on time over and over again. And I saw a true winner and leader. I would not trade Nickel for anyone.

Composite for both On3 and 247 has him as a top 250 player. I don’t think that is too far off. Think his ranking is a little suppressed right now but think it’s close to right. If he ended up top 200 or 150, I would still think it’s relatively right.
we'll see. He's only a 3 star on 247 , 89 score.

He's a 4 star , 90.71 for On3

2025 Qb Rankings IMO:
1. Underwood
2. Russell
3. St. Clair
4. Knight
5. Longstreet
6. Washington
7. Lewis
8. Zollers
9. Hill
10. Montgomery
11. Nickel

Would put Nickel right around the 120-130 mark for rankings which based on competition, stats, performance in the elite 11 seems about right.

"mental processing speed/decision making". THIS!

I remember watching Kyle Wright. He had all of the traits you look for but couldn't process anything in front of him. I watch Bryce Young up here in Carolina. He's the same way. But again, if you just look at the hood and not lift it up to see what's under there, you get a wasted pick.

I'm confused what people see on his film that has him at linebacker. Best ball hawk at safety we signed since Kam and hard hitter too like
Don’t know about best ball hawk Fitzgerald probably has that but I guess because Stubbs doesn’t run a 4.3. He look like he is fast enough to me

@Ghandi Don’t hate that take on Nix. I also don’t see it with Pullman either.

Would love to take Wiley and Gompers as upgrades.

Multiple ppl have posted he is struggling this year. I have no clue either way. Just saying if he is indeed struggling. He may need to move to LB

Yea Fitzgerald does have some monster ball skills as well. I feel like people need to see Stubbs film again tho

For Nix, he just didn’t make any huge plays when I saw him. His knock back power isn’t really what I would expect from a guy who is being recruited by Michigan and other big time programs. He looks like a ham and egger to me. You put him in and he’ll execute the assignment, but that’s it.

Stubbs is a bit too undisciplined for me. He’s young and you can definitely teach a guy to be more patient in their reads, but he wasn’t like that last year. So, this recent development is an eyebrow raiser.
What's your take on Stubb's speed? I saw a listed 4.76 40 time and comments he was quicker than fast and speed could be a concern.

Believe they didn’t exactly say he struggled just that he didn’t stand out and that foot speed maybe an issue. I think and im gonna use the board’s favorite term here in context, it all has to do with many calling him the best safety in the country and how he would end up a sure fire 5 star. Stubbs is a great get but he may not be a 5 star and just may actually be not even a top 100 player.

He is still a great get and one of the best if not best safeties in this class. The part that is a bummer is that our current issue in the secondary overall is speed so we were all hopeful he had addressed that aspect of things.
